Glass can be exquisite in its myriad forms, from the ornate windows of a Gothic cathedral to the crystalline webbing of a freshly vandalized windshield. Reflect on beauty with this Groupon.

Choose Between Two Options

  • $79 for a two-hour cold-glass-fusing party for four (a $180 value)
  • $79 for a two-hour shape-a-bowl glass-blowing class for one (a $160 value)

During a “Party of 4” session, quartets learn to safely cut glass as they fuse plates, sun catchers, or coasters using colored flat glass. Alternatively, the glass-bowl-blowing class introduces students to hot-glass-crafting techniques in a safe environment. After students turn and shape molten glass, bowls cool for a few days in an annealing oven before they're ready to be filled with colored pebbles or Fruity Pebbles.

Bay Area Glass Institute

The nonprofit Bay Area Glass Institute supports glass arts in its community by providing affordable studio space for artists, holding events and exhibits of local work, and teaching basic classes. Students create delicate glass art using cold techniques or acquire the basics of glass blowing as they rotate molten glass blobs at 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit to make terrariums, glass flowers, or space helmets for cats. A store on the premises sells elegant and innovative work by the local glass artists affiliated with the institute.

The Groupon Guide to: Using a Map

In this modern age of technology reliance, most people have completely forgotten how to use a good old-fashioned paper map. Here’s a quick refresher:

Find a place that sells maps. Maps are probably sold at like a map store? Look it up on your phone.

Buy a map at the place that sells the maps. Make sure you buy a good map. Use your phone to see who makes the best maps.

Unfold the map. This is the worst part. Put your phone in your pocket or your mouth for a minute while you use both hands to open up the stupid map.

Look at the map. This is the other worst part. You can only look at the map. It doesn’t do anything when you touch it or ask it to play the songs. It just sits there.

Go to the place on the map. Once you get there, use your phone to reflect sunlight onto the map so it burns. It burns away. It goes away. It doesn’t come back. The fire makes it nothing. Take a picture of the nothingness with your phone.

What is the most flammable kind of map? Find out in today's Groupon Guide.
