Harry Potter fans who need some decent jewelry before they can make their first Horcrux will want to nab today's Groupon: $20 for $40 worth of jewelry, beads, and more at Bead & Pearl.
This Groupon is good for any product at the store's cozy Newton Highlands location, from beads to jewelry to tools for crafting your own bling, if you have an uncommon name difficult to find in store-bought bling, like Kati with an i or Puffy." Industrious folk or treasure-seeking prospectors will be able to load up on a variety of rhinestones ($3), charms ($1.50–$6), and bead kits ($9.95–$24.95), and still have enough left over for the tools ($3.95–$34.95) they'll need to work their magic. The less DIY or craft-allergic, on the other hand, can apply their Groupon toward ready-made earrings ($24+), bracelets ($85+), necklaces ($115+), and rings ($55+).
While Bead & Pearl doesn't specialize in pink hearts, yellow moons, or green clovers, you will find an admirable assortment of Swarovski crystal, vintage beads, semi-precious stones, and African beads. It can all be a bit overwhelming, so you'll probably want to share your design idea with Bead & Pearl's staff of specialists before you accidentally start eating the attractive candy-like beads out of panic and confusion. They'll help you make the hard choices, and steer you away from charm-bracelet faux pas, like a full-size cowbell or a charm inscribed with the Mandarin character “符” (don’t ask).

Yelpers give Bead & Pearl four stars:
- It's a very cute little store and the girl working there was helpful... There's a nice studio in the back and they offer classes. I definitely dug the atmosphere here. – Emily A.
Buyer Be Where?
When you dive into Bead & Pearl for your class in jewelrification, take care that you have entered the correct business. A number of similarly named competitors have recently set up shop in the neighborhood, generating rivalry, bafflement, and the exchange of more than a few yogurt-filled revenge balloons. Here are a few:
- Breed and Purl (dog sweaters)
- Brett and Paul (husband rental)
- Burden Pills (homemade anti-antidepressants)
- Bread and Peel (Home of the Bananwich!)
- Beaten Phil (“please call a doctor”)
