Beastathlon

As racers scramble through the mud, bikes spray dirt and leap over obstacles. This outdoor mayhem lasts for nearly a full day during each of Beastathlon's obstacle-race events, with heats taking off every 30 minutes. Each course spans two–three sections—or disciplines—designed to test the body in different but equally challenging ways. Participants may surmount up to 10 obstacles on a 1- to 1.5-mile run, complete a 50- to 100-yard "hell dash" through a muddy, obstruction-filled pit, and pedal along challenge-filled trails on a 1- to 1.5-mile mountain-bike race. Competitors are divided into multiple divisions by gender and age group, and each can earn a winning race time as well as awards for best costume or bike decorations.
