Berry Cool offers health-conscious dessert devotees the opportunity to fill cups and tummies with chilly self-serve creations that are high in calcium and active cultures. Treat tongues to one of 14 different flavor choices culled from a rotating line-up of sweet swirls such as cookies 'n' cream, irish mint, and new york cheesecake, as well as diet-minded sugar-free chocolate, and pucker-inducing, nonfat flavors such as green apple and Renee Zellweger. Once you've chosen a frosty foundation, accessorize it with a treasure trove of toppings, including fresh fruit, gummy bears, cereals, or coconut shavings.

Once each cool, customized creation is complete, Berry Cool’s staff will weigh it ($0.39/oz.) and pan it for fool's gold, before handing it over to be admired and devoured by starving yogurt artists. Ensuring no sweet tooth is left out of the cold, Berry Cool also caters to lactose-intolerant guests, who can hand over sensitive stomachs to an assortment of dairy-free flavors, which may include very berry, orange burst, and tangy mango.

Berry Cool Frozen Yogurt

After attaining their undergraduate and graduate degrees from the nearby University of Texas at Austin, Ashher Syed and Sajjad Kassamali teamed up to open a local Berry Cool Frozen Yogurt shop in late 2010. Today, the self-serve shop features 14 rotating flavors—including customer favorites cake batter and white-chocolate mousse—ready to be sprinkled with more than 60 available toppings. A fan of the basics, co-owner Ashher prefers to fill his cup with plain tart and sprinkle it with chunks of fresh strawberries.

When designing the shop, Ashher and Sajjad enlisted the help of a local artist to decorate one wall with a vibrant mural featuring fresh fruits, flowers, and a sun gentle enough to look at. The environmentally conscious business provides recycling bins for paper and plastic products, recycles most of their packaging, and conserves energy with LED lights and minimum water usage in their operations. Along with customizing a cup of fro-yo, visitors can customize their tunes by plugging their own mp3 players or phones into a stereo system in the shop's music corner.

As longtime residents of the community, Ashher and Sajjad actively give back by regularly partnering with local charities and schools for fundraisers and events.
