I would be traveling from northern California for this groupon, what is the whole process? Is this under local anesthetic only? How long does it take to heal? I'm a female, 28 years old and have thinning hair on the top of my head. Both parents have thinning hair/dad is bald.. Would 1000 be a good idea for the top of a head? I want full gorgeous hair! :)

Hi Audrey, Typically, the procedure can be successfully performed in one day (one session). This is because Dr. Kahen only performs one procedure a day - so he can focus on his patient and oversee the entire process. The procedure can take anywhere from 5-6 hours. For example, the procedure can start at 9 am and finish around 2 or 3 pm. For the procedure, you are given local anesthetic. You don't feel anything during the procedure as you are completely numb. Some of our patients say they feel a little pressure and that is completely normal. As far as the healing process, we schedule a suture removal around 10 days after the procedure (you can have any Physician remove the stitches if you are not planning on being in town for this long). In about 10-14 days, you will start to notice the scabbing going away and the area fully starting to heal. The first week you have to be careful not to exercise or do anything that involves heavy lifting. But after that first week or two, most patients can go back to their normal routine. To answer your question if 1000 grafts would be enough for your procedure, it's hard to tell. Dr. Kahen would need to examine your scalp and the extent of your hair loss at the top of your head. If you are willing to send photos, or travel to us for a complimentary consultation, that would be the best way to determine how many grafts you will need. Here at Beverly Hills Hair Restoration we provide incentives to our traveling patients. You may reach us directly at 310-289-0901 or by emailing us at info@beverlyhillshr.com
