So they fly straight up for miles or the fly forward for miles? I'm trying to figure out how high they hover off of the ground. If they fly straight up for miles, how can they even be seen from the ground. Do they hover at head level, tree level, this is what I'm trying to find out. Thanks

It really depends on the wind. Sometimes they go straight up on a perfect calm day and then when there is a breeze they go in that direction.

When you say biodegradable is there anything left after you burn them? Some lanterns have a wire ring. Does this one or is it all cardboard and paper? Thank you!
