it is SO annoying that it is for first time students only.
I used a Yoga Passbook for a free week of classes at their Upper East Side location. I know it’s a long shot, but can I use this groupon? Thanks.
Is there any special for non first timers to coincide with this groupon?
Do you have to pick one location and stick with it? Or can I go to the Midtown West location on weekdays and the UES location on weekends?

Groupon really needs to do something about the “first timers” condition, which seems to appear on EVERY Groupon these days… Also, I agree that the UES location is always overflowing on weeknights.

I agree. I love Bikram, and I understand that thee deals are to entice new customers, but how about a little love for those who are already dedicated?!
Can/should beginners attend any of the classes on the schedule? Or just the Red Classes which are for New Students?

The point of Groupon is to get people going to businesses they might not check out otherwise. It’s the business’ responsibility to reward loyal customers, not Groupon’s. They want to make money off of new customers, which is why so many offers are specifically for new customers only.
All the current customers- call up the business and put some pressure on them to give deals to their current client base!

In the New Year things do get crazy at all fitness facilities – but the expiration has been extended to 1 year so you will all get plenty of time to redeem your Groupons – in the meantime eat some bread!

Does anyone know how newbies fare at Bikram? I’ve had a few classes of Vinyasa, Hatha and Kundalini, but nothing hardcore. Does one have to already be in pretty good physical shape to do Bikram?

To Soleilnyc: I am a NOT in shape, & I did great at Bikram at another studio… If you have high bolld pressure or heart problems, it isn’t recommended, I loved it! I am telling you, it is HOT in the studio, seriously… wear shorts.

Ok, so I bought the “deal” is it month to month or the 10th of Feb to the 10th of March, how does it work, be nice to get an answer as I see others have posted similar questions in different format. Thanks
I just found out that I can’t use the groupon since I used the 10 for 20 deal already. This was very disappointing and bikram nyc has lost a potential customer permanently. When I went in tonight and asked very nicely to redeem my groupon I felt like a number left out in the cold. the uws manager basically said too bad and walked away. Its pretty bad that someone who has only taken a few classes cant use this.
Anyone try and use the groupon who is already a member? I got excited and purchased and I went a while ago. I’m scared I wasted money and they won’t accept it.
I tried to activate my membership tonight so I could reserve for the first timer class tomorrow. The girl at the front desk didn’t even know what “groupon” was and had no idea they had this special. She told me I couldn’t activate my groupon until tomorrow and had to be there early to fill out papework. I asked if I could take the paperwork home so I could bring it tomorrow already completed. She rudely said no.
Btw, my friend was able to activate her membership yesterday even though she hasn’t attended any classes yet. I told her about my experience and she said it was probably the same girl who was rude to her over the phone when she called and asked about the groupon details.
This encounter makes me regret purchasing this. I would rather pay more money to go to a yoga place that is more welcoming!!
@melissa s. they will not let you use the groupon if you are in their computer or if they recognize you. This organization is VERY corporate. Groupon is cool and will refund you though. I will not be using the bikramnyc studios again. they lost my business. I found a great studio elsewhere that I am very pleased with.

I’d like to use this groupon soon and it seems like many have had some tough experiences doing so.
1. Do you have to start on the 1st of the month or does your month simply run for 30 consecutive days?
2. What is the best way to start your membership? Call ahead? Show up in person ahead of a class?
3. Do you have to do a New Student class if you are familiar with bikram?

I was finally planning to use this Groupon coupon today and when I went to the Bikram website, I saw that they’re offering 30 days for $30. So….this groupon is now a really bad deal. What’s up with that???
Seriously, I see the special too – $30 for 30 days. Can I get a refund on my unused groupon?
The groupon says “must be activated within 4 months of purchase” but the expiry date is Jan 2011.
This is conflicting to me.

I am already a member and it is nearly impossible to get a space on a week night class. I can’t believe they are offering this deal when they can hardly handle the students they already have.
But, if you are willing to brave the crowds, the practice is amazing!
