this is for real?

Grant C.

The groupon says the facial is a ‘deep pore cleansing treatment’ and the spa’s website says the steam ‘prepares the skin for extractions’. Are extractions a part of the European facial?

Elizabeth S.

That is a good question Grant. I would like to know as well. Also, can we buy this Groupon and use it towards a different facial and just pay the difference? I would prefer to get the Acne facial.

Alison M.

I know the deal says one per person but does this mean I can buy one of each treatment (i.e. one facial and one massage) or one groupon period?

Also, if I buy one as a gift can they choose which treatment to use or do I have to pick for them?

Thanks!!

Terry M.

The deal says one per person for each option – does that mean you can buy one for the facial and one for the massage?
Thanks.

De A.

I have the same question as above. Sounds like I can buy a facial and a massage? Then can I use them both on the same day? And I too want to know if the extractions are part of the facial.

Elizabeth S.

Okay, so is anyone from the spa going to answer these questions? The day is nearly half over and no questions have been answered.

Alexandra T.

Grant – The European Facial does include extractions, but there is a more expensive and aggressive kind of extraction that they offer as an upgrade and our estheticians are proficient in this special type of extraction.

Elizabeth – Yes, you can upgrade to a more expensive facial.

Allison and Terri – Yes, you can buy a facial and a massage for yourself. If you purchase one as a gift for someone else, they can decide which service they would prefer and simply schedule that one.

De – Appointments are subject to availability, but if they have time for both then I am sure it would not be an issues.

I hope this helps!

Alexandra,
Thank you for your answers…I already purchased two…it went through so I just assumed it was okay…I just thought of another question though…can I get a deep tissue massage rather then a swedish? I’m looking forward to it and based on the response I hope there is additional personnel to man the phones!…laugh.

Blue Diamond folks – there is an extremely damning recent review on YELP – do you have any response? Thanks.

Elizabeth S.

I just read that review, among others and I believe it. The good reviews are vague. The bad reviews are very specific. I’m afraid for my skin now. I wish I had read reviews beforehand. Now I know why their website hasn’t been updated in months and it is still has “Under Construction” pages despite being created back in 2009. They are not professional. Groupon should really make sure these places are legit before selling the packages to unsuspecting customers.

I am going to try to get my money back for my Groupon and if I can’t I will go for the massage (even though I REALLY wanted the facial) so at least they can’t ruin and scar my complexion by using improper procedures and techniques. It might hurt but I really don’t want my skin ruined by a bad purchase.

Yalda S.

I had the same concern – the positive reviews on Yelp are pretty vague but the negative ones are very specific. Would be great if a Groupon user could chime in and give some specific info about their experience. While $40 is a good deal, I only pay $50 or $60 (depending on which facial I get) at Pho Siam so I’d only get this because the location is closer to my house, assuming the services were good.

Here at the Blue Diamond Spa, we do our very best to meet the needs of every client. Whenever a client makes us aware that they are not satisfied, we go to great lengths to rectify any issue and create a happy experience. In the case of this particular review (on Yelp), we were not given the opportunity to resolve the matter.
We have over 12 thousand satisfied clients who have been to the spa over the past 6 years. Our clients are our # 1 priority.

And to answer your questions, De, you may upgrade to a deep tissue massage. The difference is $10.

Thanks!

I have been going to Blue Diamond Spa for about three years, for facials and waxing, and have never had any problems…so I was shocked to see such a negative and detailed yelp review! I would buy this deal myself, if it wasn’t only for new clients!

But since you guys want detailed information about the spa and no one as give any yet, I guess I’ll start it off!

After I check in with a friendly receptionist, I sit in one of the plush armchairs, enjoy a little cup of iced tea that they offer complimentary, and listen to the soothing music, until the esthetician (I usually see Ana or Sarah) takes me back into of the rooms.

After I change into they robe they provide and lay down, the esthetician returns to the room, puts warm paraffin baggies on my hands and feet, cleanses my face, then starts the steam…my favorite part! She then turns the steam off and applies the mask, after applying it she rubs aromatherapy oil on my chest, neck, and upper back (shoulders) and massages my shoulders with this oil while the mask is working its magic. After she takes the mask off, she does the extractions…a little painful but manageable! Then puts another calming mask on my skin…at the end of the treatment she applies a moisturizer on my face, so I’m good to to go for the rest of the day!
The esthetician removes the paraffin and leaves the room, and allows me time to extend my relaxation and change into my clothes and leave when I am ready to do so.

However, the pampering does not end here, folks! As I go back to the main entrance, my esthetician is waiting for me at a little table with a cup of iced tea, and asks me how my treatment was and talks about any skin concerns she noticed. I already have a regimen of products that I use, so she makes sure I am using them regularly and properly and that I am happy with them and will also give me samples of some new fun products to try!

I hope this was helpful for you guys, and I guess I’ll also give a little info on my waxing experience, even though its not included in this special. The reason I like getting my waxing done here is because, even though its a painful experience, it is still a spa atmosphere, so you are calmed down just by being there, listening to the soft music, and laying down on the bed. Also, for lip waxing, after they wax the hair off, they will look through the lighted magnifying mirror that they use for extractions to see if there is any hair left and will tweeze what is left. I usually ask to check it myself with a little handheld mirror before I leave, and will point out a few hairs here and there, which they will remove right away. After I am satisfied, the esthetician will apply cooling aloe vera gel over the waxed area. I really appreciate this last finishing touch because I have really sensitive skin and this takes care of the redness after waxing.

I hope this helps, and I’m sure you guys will have as a great an experience as I have had over the years

Yeah, I think I might pass. The negative Yelp reviews (there were two negative ones) were even more specific than the long positive review here, with the same concerns (i.e. the facialist who makes continuing negative unhelpful remarks about the clients’ skin). I’m kinda suspicious, if Tasha’s experience over the past three years was SO great, why wouldn’t she have written a Yelp review (which would then show whether that was the only business she had reviewed, which weeds out good and bad fake reviews)? Why wait until the owner of the spa spoke up here, then suddenly there’s an essay from a happy customer who’s never bothered to review on Yelp?

I could really really use a new masseuse, but I might have to pass on this one…

I love the facials at Blue Diamond Spa. The therapists are professional, experienced and only provide high quality skin care. The staff cares about their clients. Don’t take one person’s opinion on Yelp. Try it your self !

Tasha S.

Well, Claire, I dont really use Yelp, the only reason why I saw this was because the groupon was delivered to my inbox! Also, the only reason why I bothered giving a long, detailed review was because Yalda S. had requested that someone give some detailed information, but take from it what you will! If you expect not to have a good experience then you wont!

Shea D.

Not everyone lives on Yep people. Usually people are more inclined to complain than compliment, as can be seen in this discussion thread. If you don’t like the deal, don’t buy it.

Claire M.

That’s all that I said, that I don’t like the deal, so I wasn’t going to buy it. <shrug>

I disagree that people are more inclined to complain than compliment, because if that were true, you would ONLY see negative complaints on Yelp.

I was just sharing my thoughts. :)
