Lost Creek Golf Club

Towering drives soar high above undulating, tree-studded terrain before making the descent onto a canvas of lush bermuda grass. At Lost Creek Golf Club’s 18-hole course, a golf ball that finds dry land is a success story. The course forces golfers to spar with water hazards and their trash-talking mermen on 9 of 18 holes, placing accurate, confident swings at a premium.

Whitestone Golf Club

Course architects Jeff Brauer and Jay Morrish sculpted 150 acres of rolling countryside into 7,117 yards of bermuda-grass fairways and TifEagle greens to craft the 18-hole layout at Whitestone Golf Club. While most of the course entices aggressive play with generous landing zones, golfers must keep tabs on a stream that intersects and runs alongside multiple fairways. The course offers four tee options, scaling its difficulty for golfers of all stripes, and offering shorter holes for winded golf carts.

Cross Timbers Golf Course

Perched on a vantage that offers unencumbered views of Eagle Mountain Lake and downtown Fort Worth, the first tee box at Cross Timbers Golf Course presents an apropos prologue for a layout rife with scenic views. Designed by Jeffrey Brauer, the 6,734-yard, par 72 course features constant elevation changes and multiple doglegs that channel a true hill-country layout that will have golfers reaching for every club in the bag. At the signature ninth hole—a 165-yard, par 3 design—tee shots must clear a deep ravine to reach a green surrounded by a natural rock wall covered with the hieroglyphs of ancient stick-swingers.

Blue Sky Media

Blue Sky Media leverages a bevy of strategic marketing partnerships with premier Texas courses to grant golfers access to some of the state's finest fairways. The group's annual Blue Sky Golf Passes dole out fistfuls of discounts to courses throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area, freeing up some coins for golfers to use as ball-markers or throw into water hazards to wish for more coins. Between putts and drives, discounts on pro shop gear and fare refuel hard-swinging golfers and caddies exhausted from polishing the dimples of each ball.

The Groupon Guide to: Skiing Sayings

Anyone who's spent a significant amount of time around professional skiers will tell you that downhill dunderheads (as they prefer to be called) have their own culture and way of speaking. Here are some phrases you can expect to hear the next time you’re sliding down the slopes:

  • It's all downhill from here!
  • I'm down with downhill skiing!
  • Head downhill, dummy!
  • Hey, look at me! I'm a character on Downhill Abbey!
  • What is that coat made of? Down? Hill ya later!
  • I'm king of the downhill!
  • Just call me Down Hill-ary because I'm the Hillary Clinton of downhill skiing!
  • Powder over chowder!

Who is the main character on the BBC's only show about skiing British royalty? Find out in today's Groupon Guide.
