Bobby Van’s Steakhouse

Culinarily speaking, it’s hard to find anything more classic New York City than a thick, juicy steak. Bobby Van knows that well. He opened his first restaurant in the Hamptons during the summer of ’69, and, though his storyline was nixed from the Bryan Adams hit, the brand eventually found fame as a family of grills and steakhouses now renowned throughout the city and East Coast.

The menu at each eatery opens with a selection of salads and seafood appetizers, which may include delicate crab cakes or chilled lobster cocktails. Entrees may prove to be the hardest course to decide on, with a selection that spans lamb chops, fish, and a steak selection of filets, sirloin, and marbled porterhouses that can feed two, three, or four. Each space also holds a full bar stocked with spirits and wines handpicked by the sommelier.

With five locations in Manhattan, each Bobby Van’s establishment carries with it a bit of the city’s history. The restaurant on 54th Street occupies a handsome, wood-paneled dining room that was formerly a hangout for Sinatra and the Rat Pack.

The Groupon Guide to: the Dream Team

The Dream Team was the best that ever was. Their dunking, shooting, and passing abilities skyrocketed them to the top of the international basketball scene. Let’s take a look at some of the skills that earned them this nickname:

Michael Jordan
Specialty: The one where all his teeth would fall out

Larry Bird
Specialty: The one where he would be late for a basketball test and he would show up naked and everyone would be disappointed in him

Magic Johnson
Specialty: He’s at his house but his house is the beach and he’s crying because he will never be able to eat all the steaks in the world.

Charles Barkley
Specialty: A dream about going to the bathroom

Patrick Ewing
Specialty: He’s being chased by a shadowy figure. He runs and runs but his legs move as though stuck in some demonic pudding. A cold sweat breaks upon his face as above, one by one, the stars burn out. All is black. The figure is near. He tries to scream. He has no mouth. His beloved crossover dribbles and layups are useless now. They cannot save him.

What were the specialties of the Dream Team? Find out in today’s Groupon Guide.
