Hello, Is the simulator somehting on ground or do you actually fly a real airlplane or helicopter?

No, actual flight not included. You could set something up separately to do an intro flight in an actual airplane. The course offered covers teaching the basics. All of it is on the ground. Note these are not airliner type simulators. These teach flying small planes - the kind you would learn to fly for real!

Do these simulator hours count toward earning a private pilot's license?

You would think that question would have a simple answer but it does not. We have both FAA approved and unapproved simulators. Both are used as training aids and as ground instruction trainers. However, only the approved simulators can be logged in a logbook as simulator time. The unapproved simulators are recorded as ground instruction only. For a Private Pilot license, only 2.5 hours of approved simulator time counts towards the minimum hours. However, since the *vast* majority of pilot license applicants require more than the minimum, what counts and doesn’t count is somewhat irrelevant. One will have more than the minimum in flight time anyway. If you would like to use an approved simulator during the course, this is possible at an additional charge. For student pilots, only time logged with an FAA instructor can be logged (lesson only, not the additional simulator time in the promotion).
