Two sides, bread, and a beverage accompany select entrees ($8.50) on the cafeteria's rotating menu. Frequently offered dishes include beef stroganoff, lemongrass chicken, and meatloaf with creole sauce.

Boulevard Cafeteria

From the breadcrumbs used down to the hand-breaded fried items, every element in Boulevard Cafeteria's comfort food is made from scratch. In the family-owned eatery's 4,000-square-foot industrial kitchen, cooks conduct their own food processing, from shredding the salad bar's cheeses and veggies to tenderizing meat. Since 1948, classic ingredients have made up the majority of Boulevard Cafeteria's simply prepared entrees, from glazed baked ham and fried flounder to grilled chicken livers. And while the classics still remain, the menu has also evolved to include options for vegetarian and vegan diners, as well as to accommodate gluten allergies.

To end meals on a sweet note, the restaurant's bakery supplies plenty of housemade cakes and pies, from German chocolate cake to pumpkin pie topped with housemade whipped cream. These homestyle dinners are served until 7:30 p.m. every Monday through Friday, and on Thursday, pianist Kip Curtis enlivens feasts with a melodic tickling of the ivories.

Look at the map. This is the other worst part. You can only look at the map. It doesn’t do anything when you touch it or ask it to play the songs. It just sits there.

Go to the place on the map. Once you get there, use your phone to reflect sunlight onto the map so it burns. It burns away. It goes away. It doesn’t come back. The fire makes it nothing. Take a picture of the nothingness with your phone.
