Inspired by this deal, but actually a general question. I’d like to buy a few, but split it up on 2 different cards. There seems to be no option to do this — or perhaps it’s because the purchase can’t be concluded because the deal isn’t “on”?

Thanks, Eli. I guess that was really more of a Groupon question — it wouldn’t let me do that but I saw that my suspicions were correct; when the deal was “on” it let me buy again.
I do have a question for you though — if we use it for something for which materials are required (ie; paint, adhesive, wood, etc.) I’m assuming that we have to figure that out beforehand, since there is no consultation. For example, if I paint my bedroom, I myself am really not going to have any idea of how much I need to buy. And the adhesive reference is to a mirrored door I have, where the mirror came unattached. Of course, I realize we’d be responsible for the cost of required materials — I just wonder how we figure it out!

What do we do about “materials” to get the job done? Do they supply them? I want to install a new sink in my bathroom…besides buying the sink, what else do I need to have available?
If I want a room painted, or a ceiling fan installed, a carpet pulled up-with the tackless, how do I figure out how much time to allow for that or what materials/equipment to have on hand? Is there some way to speak to whoever is going to do the work before they come to do the work to know what to have prepared?
Hi Again, if i know ahead of time what is the project i can buy the necessary materials so you dont need to try to figure it out and you can reimburse us for it. for example: lets say you need to glue a mirror on a bathroom wall you would let me know you will need to have the mirror there and i will buy the glue for it and take care the job. if you need to install a bathroom sink usually you would need to replace all the connections that come with it. if you are replacing the faucet as well then usually the pop up drain is included in the box. if not you will let me know and i will get the rest of the stuff for you. thats for GC.
Hi Jayne, pulling carpets, ceiling fans, atc. are an easy and fairly quick jobs! but painting jobs take more time so i would say for your project you should buy the 4 sessions and see how long it takes and you can figure how much more you need.

I want to raise two of my kitchen cabinets to fit a new refrigerator, place a new range hood over my stove, change my countertops, replace a kitchen faucet and add some door handles to the kitchen cabinets and possibly add some ceramic backsplash. How much time do you think that would take?

you have a good list of things to do! we can raise the cabinets, install the hood and back splash in an 8 hour day, now what kind of counter top are you thinking of installing? if its marble to granite i have a great sub contractor that is very reasonable so do let me know.

I want to repair two outlets that I had overloaded a while ago. This might require pulling out some drywall and replacing it or it might not. The two outlets are close together or adjacent walls within three feet of each other. How long do you think it would take to perform the repairs? It is 150 feet so should take a long time, but involves cutting soen the boards ( some) have you ever installed a pergo floor ( it is not pergo but another name)

Facebook user; you will need the laminate floor doesn’t matter what kind; you will also need a vapor barrier so make sure you get that too! you can buy a 8hr block and we can work until we are out of time or finish it. if you have a molding installed you will need a quarter round to finish the edges. we have installed laminate and hardwood floors. tiles.

I thought I emailed you this morining and my battery died and email did not go out…. I am questioning the 75% percentage off. They claim their services are, “Do you have tons of little broken hinges, cracked tiles, and missing shelves? Hire us to come in and repair them for our permanent rate of just $50 an hour. There’s no per-item charge, no job minimums, and no bullshit.” this is quoted from their website, that is half price. For the deal it should be $25.00 for two hours or $50.00 for four hours… I would want four at that price, but this is not accurate and do not know which way to go since you are not answering this email today and the deal will be over. I believe if I buy today, you can amend it with the correct information or cancel for the error. I would love a 75% off deal!!!

That is a very old rate from years ago which was not updated. I assure you that BFH charges $100 per hour for their handy man services.
Also please note that 1 Groupon is good for 2 hours.

Rosalie, I understand what you’re saying but my point is that the price discrepancy aside, I think it’s a good deal — that’s why I bought. It’s possible that if I had found what you had, I would have declined. That said, I’m inclined to believe it was an oversight. I’ve seen many sites that when revised, neglect to update every page that needs to be. But whatever the case, having priced things out previously with other licensed contractors, I pounced when I saw the deal. Sorry you’re upset about this and hope you get the answers you need. Hey guys, sorry i couldn’t chime in on the conversation before! 3 months ego we had a virus on our BFFH server and it whipped out the server it wasn’t just my site it was many other anyhow we restored the site from an old backup that we had and that dated to 2004 and thats why it showed that the rate is $50. it was a mistake on my part and i didnt catch it! im sorry for the confusion! our rate has been $100 per hour since 2006!! again my apologizes!!!

The fact that they changed their website to accomodate the offer is something that would bring on the bells and whistles and you are not responding to that. As a groupon user and a good one, I do believe my words are to be answered other than deal or worth, it is integrity and honesty, it is to trust who I use in my home not to change a price. I am a woman who owns her own house in nyc, I get the deal, do you! I am asking for you to respond to this…!
Thank you for the clarification, Eli, but my comment to Rosalie would be that I look at the cost to me and the value I’m getting, not the percentage discount off some “list price”, when I am evaluating a deal. $50 for two hours of licensed handyman service is a good deal whether it’s 75% off BFFH’s stated price or 50% or even 15% off.

I just want to let you guys know that Eli and the company boyfriend for hire are terrific. He showed up on time (actually early) which was great. The main thing was for him to do some paint work and he paid attention to detail. He was very prepared and professional and completed the project earlier than anticipated. With the extra time he did a couple of quick jobs that will save me and my fiancee a great deal of time. The value was great but I would even recommend them to others at regular price.

I’m so bummed. I spoke with Eli and he said he is completely booked through the 19th. He will not be honoring the groupon past the expiration date. He asked that I contact Groupon for a refund.
I didn’t even receive a response saying that they were booked from Eli. I was able to use 1 of my 3 groupons but the other 2 expired. Elaine and Gail any luck with a refund from Groupon?
