Tapas plates (a $5 value) include individual beef, chicken, or pork tacos served with a trio of salsas; skewered chorizo with a spicy bean puree; and crab fritters plated alongside jicama, papaya, red onions, chayote, and herb aioli. For dessert (a $7 value), guests can choose from sorbet or slabs of red-velvet or chocolate cake.

Brooklyn Beso Restaurant & Bar

Brooklyn Beso's owners chose _beso_—Spanish for "kiss"—as the name for their Bedford-Stuyvesant restaurant in order to "evoke an invitation for love," as they explain in their bio. It also corresponds to the Nuevo Latino cuisine headlining the menus, filled with colorful, aromatic dishes such as the guava-glazed shrimp and plantains and stuffed bell peppers. An eclectic decor surrounds diners with exposed-brick walls and terra-cotta tiles, intermingled with Latin artwork and chandeliers whittled from large, solid diamonds. The restaurant also extends to an outdoor patio, and it often hosts events and live music.
