Are the classes only offered at 6:30AM or are there classes after work hours?

The groupon can be used for any classes – both central park and on the brooklyn bridge.
Please wear running sneakers so you have some good support.
You can use the bathroom at Starbucks – there are two by City Hall Park and there are also several gyms in the area (NYSC, Equinox).

I am just starting to get back into running and have been doing so for about 40 minutes every day. How behind will I be for these classes: should I buy the groupon and wait until I’m able to do more to be ready for the boot camp?

Audrey: If you can run comfortably for 5 minutes you’ll have no trouble doing the class. We’ll do sprints and other drills that will improve your running performance very quickly. Expect to see a difference after 4-5 sessions.

The groupon is good for a full year (expiration date is 10/5/2010), so you can start anytime. After you take your first class you have 3 months to use them all. HOWEVER, the faster you start, the faster your body will thank you! :-)

OK, so we can buy as many groupons as we like for ourselves, BUT do we have the use the five classes within the same week? (The schedule isn’t up on the website so I don’t know if there are sessions or just single classes?)
Also, when are the classes? On the mindbodyonline website it just says “no scheduled classes or training sessions” for the brooklyn boot camp.

OK, so I’m in shape…ROUND IS A SHAPE!!! ;o) Ok, seriously tho…I do NEED this class but I know for sure that I will not be able to do well in the beginning (Took a boot camp class once before in Seattle and LOVED IT…was in a lot better shape at that time)….Ariane, do you reccomend a class for TOTAL beginners who have not worked out recently or do you deal with all levels at each class? Also, how many classes do you reccoment per week? Do you train through the winter???? If not, when are you breaks? Any other info that you can give for a scared beginner? THANKS! =)

Evelyn, what have you been doing since the 9th grade!? Before you start get on your running shoes and train yourself to run for 5 minutes comfortable (you should get there within a week). You’ll work on improving your running in the class. I’ve had clients that started out walking the whole bridge and in a matter of a couple sessions improved their running, along with a bit of homework. So, give it a go and see yourself improve!

Nicole, the schedule is on the website (your work computer probably has a security feature that prevents you from doing anything other than your job…).
Here’s the class schedule:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday 6.30am
Tuesday 6.30 am (central park)
Tuesday, Wednesday 6.30 PM
Saturday 7.45am, 9am

You have THREE MONTHS to use the classes!

the way i see it is that you have to start somewhere. So, if you can accept that you might not be the top fitness pro at the first class, then go give it a try. The idea is to get fitter by doing it and not joining BECAUSE you are fit, right?
I suggest 2-3 classes a week, along with a bit of cardio on your own. The more classes, the better the results, obviously. It all depends on your goals.
If you’re a total beginner then work yourself up to running comfortably for five minutes as you’ll have more fun at the class.

The classes will run all the way into the beginning of December and then move indoors in Manhattan and Brooklyn and into Central Park.

Don’t be scared. Do something every day that scares you! This would be a good start…. :-)

I’m still confused by the three months thing. I can only make classes in Central Park, not Brooklyn Bridge area, so I could only go once/week. If I buy multiple Groupons for myself, does the three month expiration start for all passes when I start using the FIRST pass, or can I take 3 months to use the first two passes, then another 3 months to use the next two passes, etc? Hope that makes sense!

Hello mysterious FACEBOOK user. Each groupon starts its activation when you take the first class. So, if you start class tomorrow morning then you have 3 months to use it. Once they’re used up you start using your next groupon. Makes sense?

Thanks Ariane! You sound like someone that I would like to work with!! (then again while you yell at me to do another lunge, I’ll hate ya…then when I step on the scale I’ll love ya again!! ha ha). I have big goals and I’m ready to do BIG work! Today’s Groupon is really a gift from God for me. Normally the groupons are things that I want…and today it’s something that I really NEED! Ok, so when the classes move inside, where are they held? Are there any additional fees for working out indoors? Also, I would be doing evening classes…would you suggest a Tues & Wed night workout in a row…or should I get my butt for one class a week in the AM? (I ask because I’ve been told to have a day of rest in between big workouts…)

Christina, if you want results then get your butt kicked at least twice a week. The soreness from Tuesday’s workout will be worked off on Wednesday and will last you all the way through Thursday – isn’t that something…?

Hi Ariane I have a question I already run about 25-30 miles per week so are you able to train everyone to there level or lets say im in a class of all beginers will that slow down entire class?

Hi Joe,
you’re never in a class with all beginners. Most people have been doing the classes for a while. You’ll get a customized workout based on your fitness level because I will send you sprinting up the bridge while the slower folks are huffing and puffing. By the time they’re arriving you will have already pumped out another 50 push ups. You got me? So, get down and give me 100!

Hi Rosalinda, welcome! You’ll get your groupon tomorrow and it will list redemption instructions. It will ask you to establish an account through the online schedule and then I’ll add the 5 classes to your account. Then you can schedule yourself for any 5 classes you want to take. See you soon!

Seriously, if you belong to a gym then check if yours has a location in the City Hall area. The NYSC and Equinox are close by as are a couple other gyms. You can also ask for a pass for a free week at the gyms and use their showers after the workout.

classes will run on the bridge until December (so you still get to work off that Thanksgiving stuffing and pie and potatoes and cornbread and more stuffing and the gizzard – yuck…). We’ll then move it indoors so you’re not freezing your booty off. Classes start up in the Spring again around March/April – weather dependent.
