The next courses begin on Sunday February 10 from 7:45 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Leap of Faith Dance Academy or on Monday February 4 from 7 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. at the Levine JCC. A full schedule of classes can be found here. First-timers aged 14 and older gracefully dip into the whirling world of salsa dances during 75-minute sessions, whether solo, in pairs, cursed with two left feet, or blessed with a pair of right ones. Beginning with basic footwork and proper partner handling, the program introduces some eye-catching salsa shines for when a dancer wants to catch the spotlight. Students learn traditional salsa as well as the Cuban style Rueda de Casino, performed in a circle while swapping partners.

Charlotte Latin Dance

Masters of kinetic self-expression, the instructors at Charlotte Latin Dance teach progressive-style salsa, cha cha, bachata, and merengue to dancers of all experience levels. Students should dress in a comfortable outfit, or at least a freshly oiled suit of armor when attending the regularly scheduled four-week courses (though sneakers are not recommended), and can indulge in a game of dress-up at the monthly events that end with a three-hour dance party. Sessions are open to anyone aged 14 or older and are conveniently set in studios all over Charlotte.
