Groupon: Collective Buying Power

I see that the groupon expires in 1 year, but is that 1 year from today? I’m a little confused about that. Thanks!

How long does 1 race typically last? With the use of this Groupon, can you purchase 3rd and 4th races on that same day for the $10/race price?

Jessica – Groupon likes to have an Expiry Date. Chicago Indoor Racing will not expire any of the coupons as we treat them the same way as Gift Certificates in that respect.

Kathy – the race is over when the winner completes 21 laps. Prior to the race starting there can be one or more formation/warm up laps to make sure that everyone is ready and running and then there is a cool down lap after the checkered flag. For the typical newer driver this would probably equate to about 7 or 8 minutes behind the wheel.

Additonal races can be purchased on the same day for just $10.

Kim – unfortunately, the coupon cannot be used for the Junior Program – but you should check it out anyway – kids love it.

Is the ‘racing package’ the typical 2 short + 1 long races? Is it just a single race?

I’m looking for a good “date” to plan for me and my boyfriend. He races as a hobby and since he’s in the midwest for work and his race car is on the east coast he really misses being behind the wheel. This seems like it’d be perfect. If I buy two of these can we use them together in one visit? One for him and one for me?

If a group purchases these groupons can they make a group reservation so they only race against each other?

The Racing Package is made up of the standard 21 lap races that are always the same for Arrive and Drive – You might be thinking of a Mini Grand Prix event where participants take part in 2 × 15 lap Heats and a 25 lap Final.

Tom – Arrive & Drive races accomodate 10 guests. If you have ten people and call after 10:00am in the morning I am sure you will be able to find some races that have all 10 slots open. Any slots that you do not reserve and pay for, could be sold to others.

Jenny Foxe – of course you can – that’s how it was intended – have fun racing – he may learn a thing or two……..

I don’t know much about go-karts… you don’t need to know how to drive stick shift, do you?

Kathy – No shifting required – just Gas and Brake and steering, of course :)

What’s involved in getting your license? Do I need to pay to get my license and then use the package?

Tom – if you want to reserve races at a specific time earlier than the day you want to race and guarantee that there will be only your group on the track you would need to contact out Group Events department and they can set up an event for you. However, these Coupons could not be used for pre-booked group events.

Thomas T. – You simply fill out the waiver and show proof that you are over 18 and have (or had) a driver’s license. The cost of the CIR license is included in the package. Due to the speed of the karts, we cannot allow people that do not already know how to drive to race in Arrive & Drive races.

I understand that you just need to be 18 & have a valid driver’s license, and fill out a waiver in order to get a license. Does the license fee include a lesson? More importantly, just to verify, one $30 package will allow 2 people to get a license and will then only include 1 race. So for 2 people to arrive, get 1 license each (2 total), and then race, we’d need 2 packages.

Jill N. – The license fee does not include a lesson, that is why we require that people have already obtained a driver’s license. One package would allow one person to get a license and then to do two races (additional races on the same day would cost just $10 each). That person would also receive a free race on their next visit as well as a free race (via email) on their birthday. If two people want to race, they would each need to buy a package.

So, I just need a confirmation, I can buy like 13-14 groupons on the same order and use them for a team outing that we would organize in the next year, correct?

Gozde O. – You can buy as many Groupons as you like, but you can only reserve your race time on the day you wish to race after 10:00am and providing that the time slot that you want is available. It sounds as though you might be better of calling our Group Events line at 630.433.3710 – they have some great pricing for groups and you could guarantee your spot well ahead of time.

Please note that Groupon coupons can only be used during our regular opening hours and that we strongly recomend that people call ahead (anytime after 10:00am on the day you wish to race) to check for availability and reserve your time slot.

Can I buy two Groupons for myself. The first Groupon to get a licence + 2 races and the second Groupon to get 3 more races any time for the rest of the year? -Thanks

I want to buy two packages today for me and one other person can we make a reservation a week ahead of time to or can you only call on the day you want to go?
And they can be used on Saturdays correct?

Joseph Haley – Yes you can – the first get’s the license and two races, the second three races whenever you chose. You are right.

Christin A. – the coupons cans be used on Saturdays. You cannot book a week ahead of time, but if you call on the same day you will be able to find a time slot for you and one other.

Mai K. – $10 per race on the same day. If you come back on another day, the first two races are always $25 and subsequent races will be $10. With an Annual License you can purchase a 7 for $70 which allows you to race seven times in a single day.

I just had my license suspended because I got a DUI and took out an old lady. Is it ok if I can show proof that I HAD a license or does it have to be active. Thanks Alisa

if i buy it today when is the soonest i can use it?
if there are open time slots tomorrow or sunday would we be able to use it?

Brian G. – If you show that you had a license you will be able to race – but we do have a zero tollerance policy towards drinking before and during racing, but we also have a bar that you can enjoy afterwards.

Kelly G. – We would allow you to use it today and over the weekend – there are open time slots on Saturday and Sunday, but make sure that you call after 10:00am to check availability and book your time.

Please explain what a lesson is. Is this lesson the 1 hour safety class before the race or is the lesson completely separate and different from the safety course to be allowed to race?

Can two separate people buy me this groupon as a gift? How would they be combined?

George M. – There is no lesson. Anyone who has not raced at CIR before will need to go through a briefing. For your first Arrive & Drive race I would allow an hour to register, complete paperwork, sit through a 15 minute briefing and then get suited up. Group Event briefings typically take a little longer as the type of event (team relay, tournament, Grand Prix, etc. is explained to them).

Boris S. – Yes they can – they would need to hand you the certificates/coupons which you could then redeem – the first for 2 races and a license and the second for 3 races.

Alisa – I am a little confused at what I just read. Did you not only welcome Brian G to your racetrack, but also suggest he enjoy a drink at your bar (most likely before he drives home). This criminal just indicated he was charged for driving under the influence. Is this the level of social responsibility I can expect from your establishment?

How long is it supposed to take to process the order?

I bought it like 4 hours ago and it still says (under My Stuff→ My Groupons) “Your order is currently being processed.” and I still haven’t been charged..

Jeff- to your comment, how would Brian G. drive home is he does not have an active license? He said that it is suspended. Read more carefully. Of course there are other activities in this establishment where you can enjoy well before you would go home. Restaurant, games ect. If you know you have a guest who likes to drink and is not driving on the road, why not suggestively sell your products?

I bought 4 groupons. All in my nam. Can I bring my family (all over 18) and use them for each of us? Or does their name have to be on them? Can they use them on their own?

George- just because someone has a suspended license doesn’t mean he can’t drive. Legally he can’t, but what’s to stop him? Legally a person cannot drive drunk but the only way to get a DUI is to do it…

Jeff – We have a zero tollerance policy towards drinking and driving and go to great lengths to ensure that our guests are protected from any kind of reckless behavior. It is the state allows people to have a drink and still drive. Brian G will not be driving after drinking at our facility as he apparently does not have a license. The comment was actually meant to confer a level of irony. On a personal level, I would like to see a zero tollerance policy for drinking and driving on the roads, but I don’t make the laws. With regard to social responsibility, we have never knowingly allowed anyone to leave our property if they were not fit to drive and have stopped countless people from racing due to the suspiscion that they might be under the influence of something. We have an impecable safety record and are intent on maintaining it. Please don’t mistake friendly banter for condolence of any criminal activity.

Joseph- I’m not from Groupon, but I think you can. I always see Groupon staff saying that’s fine- the number on the Groupon is more important than the person’s name listed on it. HTH

I have asked Groupon why some orders are still showing as processing – there is no problem at our end.

Joseph G. – Their name does not need to be on the Groupon – many Groupons are bought as gifts. The most important thing is that the recipient brings in the coupon and presents it as “payment”. You can all come in together or you can come in seperately.

Jeff I resent the suggestion that I would be drinking, much less driving home with a suspended license. I have been sober for over 3.5 months now and have carried that guilt of that poor lady on my conscience since the incident. I’ll see you on the track buddy (or in the parking lot).

I rushed to judgement in commenting on your establishment, and for that I apologize. Its been a tough year, and I guess I just hope in those situations, someone will always speak up and prevent a tragic event from taking place. I have full faith from your statement you are cognizant of your responsibility and look forward to vising your track soon.

Tony CIR — REALLY, you have a bar at a facility where people are racing cars? You can spin this any way you want, but I think that crappy and irresponsible. Yep, you’re making money hand over fist, but It’s a crappy model

Heather H, they have a no tolerance policy. If you want to race you have to wear a wrist band which is a sign for “do not serve alcohol”. If you look like you’ve had a few drinks they will give you a breathalyzer test. I have been there plenty of times and I’ve never seen it be a problem. People race, then get drinks afterwards.

So get of your high horse before you know what you are talking about.

And for the others that are concerned about what Brian G. said… he’s what is called an “internet troll”. Do a google search on it…

High horse – at least you took time to explain the policy!! that makes more sense. I STILL THINK HAVING DRINKING AT A TRACK THAT HAS DRIVING IS IRRESPONSIBLE! That’s my opinion.

Your opinion assumes that people are drinking and drunk driving gocarts and that CIR is unsafe because they have a bar on location. You opinion is incorrect, plain and simple.

Your real beef is with people who go out, drink and then drive drunk which is not what CIR is about. If you don’t have anything else to add or didn’t buy in on this deal, why are you even here?

your list says a helmet and neck brace is needed; is this something that can be rented at your establishment if the rider doesn’t have one?

so everytime i go to order this and put my credit card info in it says that the cvv is worng and im entering it in right whats the deal

Brian M. – please contact Groupon regarding payment – we at CIR have no control over this aspect of the deal. I do know that they were experiencing some problems, but luckily the deal is up all day to day.

Cody Drinking = unsafe driving plain and simple. Great that they try to monitor, but still the fact that people drive and drink all the time, so unless they give people bretlanizers when they leave the facility, some will leave having one too many and not getting it.

Chicago Indoor Racing is an entertainment facility catering to a primarily adult audience. In order to cater to both our corporate and social guests we have a bar and restaurant within our entertainment facilities. We operate every aspect of our facility in a socially responsible manner, espescially when it comes to the consumption of alcohol. Many people that choose to drink nowadays have a designated driver or rent cabs, limos or mini buses. It is not my duty or place to tell people whether or not they should drink (that’s what living in a free country is all about) only to ensure that our guests are safe on the track and that people leaving either of our facilities do not pose a risk to others as a result of being intoxicated. In that respect we are no different to restaurants, hotels, bars, etc.

Yes… I must be part of the problem because I don’t drink and I am always the designated driver. I should really stop doing that.

Boosting profits? Like most restaurants, entertainment and sporting events do? Last time I checked I’ve never seen any of those places give breathalyzer tests when people leave, so why do you have such a problem with CIR?

Drinking a driving is morally wrong and against the law. Serving alcohol is not. People are ultimately responsible for their OWN actions and decision making.

With that being said, CIR is a top notch establishment. Fun with safety in mind is a very high priority for them. This is a fantastic deal and I bought 5 just for myself.

If I buy 5 groupons today, can I use them at separate times? For example, can I use 2 for my wife and I on one day, and then 3 on another day for myself and 2 friends?

Steve L. – Yes you can. On the first visit you and your wife will get an Annual License and 2 races each and on the second visit your firends will each receive Annual Licenses and 2 races and you will have up to 3 races available to you as you will already have an Annual License.

Shawn P – This was my actual first Groupon purchase, before I understood how everything worked. I purchased 4 of these thinking they could be used by anyone before I came to understand the “Gift” option. May I still give these as Gifts? They have my name as the recepient but a different person would use it. If not, can I get them reissued as gifts?

Mine shows ‘Processing’ and won’t allow me to print if off. ANy idea why?

About to use this. Like the previous CIR Groupon, does this come with 2 buddy passes and/or the ability to split the races with a friend if the friend buys an annual license?
