Chicopee Ski & Summer Resort

Chicopee Ski & Summer Resort's storied history began in 1934, when an enthusiastic group of mostly businessmen decided to create their own ski club. The club is believed to be the first site in North America to offer floodlit night skiing, which took the form of battery-powered automobile headlights affixed to a child's sleigh at the top of the slope. In place of lifts or tows, skiers used waxed boots to scale the slopes, as well as the herringbone, sidestep, and uphill-somersault techniques.

Today, the members who own the not-for-profit club boast the same enthusiasm for outdoor recreation, though the technology and scenery have changed considerably. In winter, skiers tackle 14 trails covered in natural and machine-made snow and perfect their jumps in two terrain parks. These snow bunnies use two Magic Carpet lifts, two double chairlifts, a triple chairlift, and a quad chairlift to get to the top of the mountain. During summer months, adventure seekers trek through 7 kilometres of bike trails and explore an 18-hole disc-golf course that winds through verdant foliage and around tranquil ponds. The resort also hosts beach volleyball and summer camps in sports such as tennis and climbing.

Reviews

The bunny hill is great to learn on and they have hills for every skill level.
