Watching a movie on the big screen is a great way to become fully immersed in the film, second only to diving into a pool filled with the movie's original film reels. Avoid butter-topped cannon balls with today's Groupon: for $19, you get a movie outing for two at Cinetopia, valid at one location in Beaverton, Oregon, and two locations in Vancouver, Washington (up to a $50 total value). The movie outing includes:

  • Two movie tickets valid for any film, including 3-D showings (up to a $20 value each)
  • One large popcorn or $7 drink voucher towards one drink, or one bottomless popcorn or $10 drink voucher towards one drink if redeemed Monday—Thursday; plus access to the gourmet-butter bar.

Cinetopia's super-high-definition digital projectors, wide leather seats, fresh market-to-table cuisine, selection of local microbrews, extensive wine list, and art gallery have earned the cinema acclaim from multiple media outlets. The newly opened Vancouver Mall 23 location boasts four enormous GXL screens up to 80 feet, five luxury themed movie parlors, nine living rooms, and five grand auditoriums with steep stadium-style seating to help guests enjoy a clear view of the screen, while the Mill Plain location's three living-room theaters provide patrons aged 21 and older with footrests, pillows, and waiters on hand.

Along with grand auditoriums and living-room theaters, the new Beaverton location houses two GXL theaters with massive 62-foot and 70-foot screens. The Portland Tribune was impressed by the theater's "lighted boardwalk and fountain, colorful architectural design elements, and movie images dancing along windows." Films unreel onto super-HD, 30-foot screens in the exclusive parlor-room theaters, which pair Beaverton patrons' movie experience with a full in-theater restaurant service.

Moviegoers who arrive early can grab a great seat, top their popcorn at the gourmet-butter bar, and enjoy preshow live music performed 20 minutes before weekend evening shows, typically by pianists, violinists, and Frank Sinatra–looking robots. Cinetopia also carries a host of other upscale food and beverages (not included in this Groupon), including pastries, made-from-scratch pizzas, and more than 50 wines.

Cinetopia

Cinetopia's super-high-definition digital projectors, wide leather seats, fresh market-to-table cuisine, selection of local microbrews, extensive wine list, and art gallery have earned the cinema acclaim from multiple media outlets. The Mill Plain location boasts five Grand Auditorium theaters, each equipped with 50-foot, 2048p screens. Reclining seats ascend diagonally for unimpeded views, and ejection buttons allow audiences to escape the theater during too-scary shower scenes. The venue also houses three living-room theaters for patrons aged 21 and older with footrests, pillows, and waiters on hand. Live music performed from an overhead balcony fills these spaces before Friday and Saturday shows. View the schedule of current and upcoming showings here.

The Groupon Guide to: Color Theory

If you're a visual artist, you've probably got a box of crayons, a crayon sharpener, and a tiny ceramic cup you store the crayon shavings in so you can later melt them into a new crayon color that you call "garbage." You've also probably got a good understanding of color theory. If you're not a visual artist, here's some information that will be new to you:

  • A color wheel is a circular diagram that selects the best colors for your work of art based on which colors you land on when you're blindfolded and stabbing with a knife.

  • Staring at warm colors, such as red, dark red, and reddish black, makes your body feel like it's been covered in a wool blanket and then buried from the neck down.

  • Staring at cool colors, such as cool red, makes your body feel like it's been covered in a loose layer of gauze and left to get even cooler beneath a nice, shady tree in the middle of nowhere.

  • Complementary colors are defined as "any two colors that, when combined, produce a small egg containing the color ‘prison-shoe gray.’"

Which popular color is best known for hatching from an egg?
