When Atlantis fell, the only survivors were its golfers, whose vast knowledge of water hazards saw them to safety. Hone game-saving skills with today's Groupon: for $195, you get a golf package at City of Denver Golf (up to a $612 total value), valid at seven golf courses, including City Park, Evergreen, Kennedy, Harvard Gulch, Overland, Wellshire, and Willis Case. This Groupon does not include the courses’ mandatory golf-cart fees ($7.25/nine holes; $14.50/18 holes). The golf package includes the following items:

  • 16 nine-hole or eight 18-hole rounds of golf (up to a $288 value)
  • Four nine-hole rounds of par 3 golf (up to a $44 value)
  • Seven one-hour group golf clinics with a PGA professional (up to a $280 value)

City of Denver Golf consists of seven distinct facilities that offer nine- and 18-hole courses and PGA pro–guided clinics set amid rustic, wooded landscapes with breathtaking views of the Denver skyline. Held daily at City Park, Overland Park, and Kennedy, group golf clinics place up to 8 pupils under the tutelage of a PGA professional, who instructs them in the ways of driving, putting, bunker play, and convincing the ball to sit still on its tee with the promise of an ice-cream treat. Five lessons will be geared toward beginning and intermediate golfers, with the final two at the intermediate to advanced level. Golfers can flaunt newly honed skills on the small, sloping greens and tight fairways of City Park or tackle the Wellshire course, designed by Donald Ross in 1926 and speckled with winding, tree-lined fairways. Both the Harvard Gulch and Kennedy facilities contain nine-hole, par 3 courses, which accommodate novice golfers or advanced golfers whose drivers refuse to take off their velvet club head covers. The included VIP pass allows members to drop in, request tee times by phone up to 24 hours in advance, or schedule a round through mental telepathy.

The Groupon Guide to: Types of Dance

Dance is the best way to physically express music and the worst way to express a coherent thesis. Here's a guide to the history behind popular dance styles and what they're up to today:

• Jazz: Origin: Jazz dance was invented to go along with jazz music, which was invented to go along with whiskey and sinful thoughts about close talking with a stranger.
Today: It's still one of the most sultry types of dance around, inducing wails of desire from bugles and trumpets everywhere.

• Hip-Hop: Origin: Short for hippocampus hopscotch, hip-hop is a cerebral form of dance that involves absorbing beats, thinking about them, and regurgitating them into body movements a few hours later.
Today: Hip-hop is popular in movies with confrontational names, in music videos, and in nightclubs that are just live versions of music videos.

• Ballet: Origin: Ballet originated in France as a way to train people to be more graceful so that they could more easily slide out of guillotines.
Today: Now it's just a really nice dance.

• Tap: Origin: When a group of schoolchildren tromped home one day through puddles of molten metal and ruined their perfectly good buckled shoes, they discovered a new type of dance used to confound adults.
Today: Tap dancers stomp louder than the notes of a song so that listeners won't be hypnotized by lyrical propaganda or brain-infecting melodies.

Is the human body capable of regurgitating musical notes?
