Before salad, lettuce got a bad rap due to its occasional wilting and its frequent use by desperate headless horsemen during jack-o'-lantern off-seasons. Learn to appreciate this generally mild-mannered vegetable with today’s Groupon to Clara’s Tidbits, which will be closed for the holidays, from December 24 through January 1. Choose between the following options:

  • For $9, you get lunch for two (up to a $19.48 total value).
  • For $18, you get lunch for four (up to a $38.96 total value).

Each lunch includes the following for each person:

  • Choice of a sandwich (up to a $7.49 value), salad (up to a $7.89 value) or salad-bar access (an $8.25 value)
  • Beverage (up to a $1.49 value)

Chefs at Clara’s Tidbits pepper their midday menu with fresh ingredients assembled into classic American deli sandwiches and salads. Tried-and-true cold sandwiches, including chicken and tuna salad, are dressed in one of eight breads and an infinite number of condiment-painted expressions. Hot sandwiches warm up taste buds with steamy options including the turkey-cheddar melt, whose eponymous filling surfs across a thousand-island sea on an inflatable onion roll. The steak with swiss sends beef and onions to simmer in au jus before being lulled to sleep in a pita cradle.

Alternatively, diners can flex their culinary creativity and tong-squeezing muscles at the fully stocked salad bar, or opt for premade arrangements. The taco salad’s flurry of tortilla chips settles upon chili, olives, and salsa, and the Tidbit Special slides seasoned chicken chunks and pasta under avocado and cheddar. Beverages, such as cherry limeade and fresh-brewed iced tea, wash down bites with the deliciousness of a cheesecake-flavored whirlpool.

Clara's Tidbits

Clara learned early on that consistency and fresh ingredients were important to the tastiness of a sandwich, but a friendly face and convenience were vital to the success of a business. Starting in 1985, Clara began making sandwiches, pita specials, and homemade chicken and tuna salad. She partnered up with Greg shortly after and together they powered the success of Clara’s Tidbits. Today it serves sandwiches and salads from it's location in the the San Marco area in addition to delivering lunch, which has the effect of giving the restaurant infinite locations—just like time, space, and Frank Lloyd Wright houses.
