Hello, Could I book a reservation for an October trip with this Groupon (at the Groupon rate), if I did so before September 26th?

Ok, so this is the first time I purchased through groupon and after reading these comments I’m confused. I purchased two tickets as a gift for my husband. I plan to use one and he will use the other, but the tickets were both purchased under his e-mail. Is the second ticket not valid then? Did I need to do two separate transactions in order to get a ticket for him and myself?

1) If applying the unused $59 value, can other discounts or coupons be used in conjunction, as at that time, this would no longer be a special price.

I went online and started to book a fare for 4 adults going to Victoria July 28th (same day return) with the Buchart/City tour and it was $135 each.
With my groupon, $59+55 (your quoted addon price) = $114 each.
Even when I went on the Victoria RT it was $85 each.
Is that the deal? Save $20 (and the flexiblity to change the date)? I don’t want to sound negative, but it just doesn’t seem like a groupon deal.

I just checked the Clipper website where Clipper is offering “special $75 RT Sea. – Victoria, B.C.” tickets. Your $59 offer is still lower than that, of course ( and thank you! ), but by no means are we saving $66 when we purchase through you. I love you guys, but honesty is the best policy if you want to maintain your credibility.

I second Donna’s comment. Even the regular price for a “no changes” ticket is only $85 pp and you have a choice of about 3 departure times (not just 7:30 – 7:00). We’re still saving, so I’m buying this Groupon, but… 53% savings?

@ Donna and Tamra, per Melissa’s comment, this deal includes taxes and fee for the refundable/changeable ticket. If you go to the site, you see that the fees are $10. The base ticket prices I’ve seen are $115, 120 and 125, add the $10 fee and you are looking at $125, $130, $135 respectively. So technically they could have said up to 56% off the highest. So we are still getting a real good deal. That and they are willing to bundle packages on top of it. Both that and included taxes/fees are typically not done when you look at the fine print. Enjoy, I know I will. :)

I bought one for myself and then one as a gift-but the gift does not seem to be going through. The one I bought as a gift would be used for a child who is 11. I am concerned that I did something wrong, as it’s not showing up.

From my experience of buying groupon, it doesnt matter if you buy for yourself or buy as gifts. The important factor is the groupon number. The company has all the numbers and information sent by groupon. When you redeem/make reservation with the said company, they keep track of the record. That is when they match up the number to the name of the person redeeming it to make sure 1 groupon per person rule applied. So it doesnt matter what name on the voucher originally.

I just tried to use my groupon within the 7 day window (I read all the fine print, I believe I’m following all the rules) but the reservation agent said that there was no seats available “for groupons” on my requested day. If there is a limited number of groupon seats, it’s quite disappointing that there wasn’t better disclosure. This is already a fairly limited groupon and it’s possible that I won’t be able to use my two groupons due to availability to groupon customers only. I could have booked the trip without the groupon I was told. Can I get confirmation that there is limited distribution (so I know whether to try and see if someone else can use them)? Thank you.

THIS DEAL IS THE WORST EVER. USUALLY GROUPON IS GREAT- BUT MAYBE THEY SHOULD FULLY SCREEN THE COMPANIES THEY WORK WITH TO ENSURE THAT CUSTOMERS REALLY GET A GOOD DEAL.

WE NOW HAVE 5 TICKETS WE CANNOT USE AT ALL. THE CLIPPER IS BEING SO UNCOOPERATIVE IN FINDING ANY WAY TO ACCOMMODATE ANY REQUESTS. THEY OBVIOUSLY DO NOT WANT TO ENCOURAGE TRAVEL TO VICTORIA BY ANY 30 SOMETHINGS WHO HAVE JOBS.

I finally did get tickets but it took five phone calls … I had to keep calling back to ask if more had been released and finally I got lucky. So for me, it ended up ok, but in my opinion this was not a well managed groupon. On the good side, the customer service people at Victoria Clipper are very nice. They just couldn’t help me and that was very frustrating.

Hi Everyone Who Have Unused Tickets:

I sent an email to Groupon explaining my mistake in not reading the fine print — I thought it included a vehicle — and Groupon was nice enough to cancel the tickets and refund me the whole amount. It took a couple days for a response and I thought Groupon wasn’t going to do anything for me so in the meantime, I sold the tickets. I tried to reverse the cancellation but that couldn’t be done so I had to reimburse the three individuals to whom I sold the tickets. I guess I’m suggesting you contact Groupon as it may be able to help you out.

Unfortunantly, I’m on a tight budget(medical Bills have taken over). I had hoped to enjoy a brief vacation. But I have just threw away my money and no vacation.

I too had hoped for a brief vacation/escape from the stress of potential layoffs. No such luck, I bought the groupon before realizing how short of time I had to use it. Never again will I buy a deal like this. Wish I could get my money back.

Another disappointed groupon customer. The fine print was clear. But the expiration date came before I could make time to travel. I lost money and I’m not happy.
It’s nice that the Clipper people are offering to apply the $59 to their trip price. But that means I have to put out more money.

I won’t buy any more Groupons. They may be good for some, but they don’t work for me.

I’m sorry the previous commenters didn’t read the fine print. It was there, we read it. And, had a great time in Victoria this past weekend! Thanks to both Groupon and the Clipper.
