After an initial consultation, the light of the FDA-approved Cutera GenesisPlus laser passes through the nail to target the underlying fungal infection. The nail then grows in clear.

Available only to podiatrists, the KeryFlex artificial resin nail covers damaged, fungal, thickened, or discolored toenails while still allowing the natural nail to grow back. In approximately 40 minutes for all 10 nails, a technician removes the afflicted parts on each toenail, applies the resin, and bonds the resin to the nail bed with an ultraviolet light. Patients can select from three colors—natural, opaque, and pastel—for a natural-looking and natural-feeling nail that is not affected by nail polish, nail-polish remover, or detergent.

Coast Podiatry Group

After beginning a career as the youngest licensed podiatrist in California, Coast Podiatry Group medical director Dr. Jack A. Reingold has buffed up his toe-tending skills with more than 30 years of experience, including a stint as the chairman of podiatric surgery at Scripps Memorial Hospital. His office's practitioners treat feet for a host of leg-stand conditions, including ankle sprains, fallen arches, and complications of diabetes. For cloudy or yellowed talons, FDA-cleared Cutera GenesisPlus laser equipment gradually heats mild to severe fungal infections to restore nail clarity without anesthetics or downtime.

The Groupon Guide to: Animal Defense Mechanisms

In the wild, animals must protect themselves so they can survive long enough to one day willingly supply humans with their nutritious bodies. Here's how some creatures manage to stay alive:

Pig: Emits a strong, unpleasant odor that smells like burned bacon that was also maybe dropped on the floor once or twice

Cow: Skin becomes translucent in order to display the animal's delicious-looking insides and lure its attacker closer. Once the attacker is near, the cow hopes it will realize how pitiful and defenseless cows really are and then just leave it alone.

Chicken: Throws up a bunch

Dogs: Spend years—years—pretending they give a single guff what you have to say

Hamster: Balls itself up to look like a disgusting, hairy corn dog

Why are chickens always throwing up? Find out in today's Groupon Guide.
