Cold-blooded animals' body temperatures rely on external forces, such as the hot rays of the sun, icy gusts of wind, or the cool blast of a favorite chewing gum. Ogle nature's thermometers with this Groupon.

Choose Between Two Options

  • $12 for one off-season pass for unlimited visits for two (until May 31), including a 10% discount on items purchased at the gift shop (a $24 value)
  • $39 for $100 toward an Outreach Program, such as a group event, school program, or birthday party

This Groupon’s second option covers Outreach Programs that bring the zoo experience to you. Zookeepers usher select animals to educational events, such as library presentations, festival appearances, and lessons for homeschool groups ($149–$199/hour; $599+/full day). Alternatively, reptile lovers can opt to have an animal show at their birthday party.

Cold Blooded Encounters

An affable red-footed tortoise named Confucius and a gentle black rat snake named Oreo greet visitors at Cold Blooded Encounters as founder Sean Amidon, a former reptile handler at Disney's Animal Kingdom, supplies a steady stream of compelling facts. Secluded and multispecies habitats house more than 150 species of amphibians, fish, reptiles, and invertebrates, including fire salamanders, jewel cichlids, Kenyan sand boas, and whip scorpions. Annual memberships grant gift-shop discounts, guest passes, and a family photo posed with an animal. Cold Blooded Encounters also reaches out to school groups from preschools to colleges with effusive educational programs and sends ambassadors to birthday parties, where children can help feed turtles or pose for photos with 8-foot snakes.

The Groupon Guide to: Making a Goofy Face

If we each spend just 15 minutes a day making a goofy face in public, this big old bowl of soup we call "Earth" won't seem quite as tasteless. Here are some tips on how to goof up your face:

  • To make a goofy smile, simply angle the corners of your lips down instead of up.

  • Stick your open hands behind your head so you look like you're either a moose or a person whose head is growing 10 fleshy nubs.

  • Turn around before making a face. That way the person you're with won't have to watch you try to fold your eyelids in half several times, if that's how you choose to make your goofy face.

  • Puff up your cheeks. You can do this the traditional way—with your breath—or the delicious way—with a pound of meatloaf.

  • For the "inverse," you'll want to shave off your head hair and glue the clippings onto your face. You'll also probably want to start walking backward and draw two eyes, a nose, and a mouth on the hairless portion of your head with lipstick. Have a friend do it too and then your inverse faces can kiss each other. That's wild!

Would the world be a better place if everyone walked around with a mouthful of meatloaf?
