Each day, clients sweat through a new Workout of the Day (WOD). WODs blend principles of strength training, cardio, plyometrics, and gymnastics to create workouts that are varied and strive for functional fitness. When FOX8 visited CrossFit Medina, they stumbled into an electric atmosphere that showed groups of athletes working together to accomplish their goals, much like a group of ants would work together to bench-press a tomato.
CrossFit students submit themselves to the Workout of the Day (WOD), a constantly changing workout that can be as short as 2 minutes or as long as 35 minutes. The programs blend principles of fitness disciplines such as strength training, cardio training, and gymnastics, forming routines that are anything but routine. Though the moves vary, students might be expected to row on the rowing machine, perform Olympic-style weight lifts, and execute conditioning exercises such as box jumps, pull-ups, and dips among others. All the while, CrossFit Medina’s trainers encircle the class, lending tips and giving individual attention to students when necessary.
