Inside the orange-painted walls of Dave's Chillin & Grillin, the friendly staff of sandwich makers starts each day by baking fresh wheat, sourdough, rosemary, and rye bread from scratch, without the use of chemicals or preservatives. They pile these breads with non-processed meats and cheeses and local produce to forge a range of grilled cheeses and hot and cold subs stuffed with fillings such as turkey, salami, and meatballs. A sub dubbed the Davewich—topped with turkey, roast beef, vegetables, and cheese—honors the founder more effectively than a grilled cheese garnished with his yearbook photos. To quench thirsts, staff also mixes fresh peaches, bananas, and other real fruit into smoothies and ice cream and milk into milk shakes.
