$39 for a 90-Minute Acupuncture Visit ($150 Value)

After the included consultation, licensed acupuncturist Adam Wiscomb uses ultra-fine needles during a process designed to balance the body and alleviate pain or illness. The tui na–style acupressure treatment—which is a form of bodywork performed along the acupuncture-point meridian system—can further release blocked energy and promote better circulation.

Dr. Adam Wiscomb at Middle Path Acupuncture

Adam Wiscomb has always been interested in a diverse range of cultures. He enjoys West African music and Latin American literature, and he speaks fluent French, Spanish, and Portuguese—and a little Mandarin. It may have been this passion for exploring other traditions that led him into alternative health care. Wiscomb was on the path to traditional medical school when he discovered personally how effective acupuncture could be. His results were so dramatic that he chose to pursue Eastern medicine professionally; he began studying acupressure, became a licensed acupuncturist and prescriber of Chinese herbs, and earned national certification to practice traditional Chinese medicine.

In addition to acupuncture, Wiscomb uses techniques including cupping and gua sha scraping to help patients enjoy the same balance and healing that he himself once experienced. He supplements nutritional counseling with modern lab diagnostics as needed to determine sensitivities to allergens such as wheat, dairy, or slightly off-key radio jingles.

The Groupon Guide to: Hotel Amenities

Most people choose a hotel based on what amenities it offers and how many of its TV channels show a live feed of the local city council. Here are some of the amenities that you might be lucky enough to experience on your next trip:

  • Pool full of people who can swim but not as well as you
  • Room service delivered directly to the hotel restaurant
  • Dogs that will keep your sheets warm when you're not using the bed and special electric jackets that will keep the dogs warm
  • Spa where they at least brush your teeth for you instead of just squishing your muscles
  • Unlimited wigs, so you can really feel like you're escaping
  • Rooms where families can go to yell at each other
  • An in-room safe for keeping items so valuable you would never trust yourself to touch them
  • Free wireless Internet that only goes to the hotel's email provider, Hotelwhispers.net
