The Scouting Report

The Denver Outlaws’ 2012 season saw them take home nearly every accolade but a championship. Though their seventh straight playoff run was snuffed out in the title game against the Chesapeake Bayhawks, the Outlaws claimed the top seed in the league with a franchise-high 11–3 record. Attacker Brendan Mundorf was named season MVP as the second overall scorer in the league, posting 59 points off 32 goals and 27 assists. On the other side of the ball, veteran defenseman Lee Zink was named the 2012 defensive player of the year for recording 17 ground balls and thwarting a nefarious congressman’s plot to criminalize all sports.

Denver Outlaws

The Denver Outlaws joined Major League Lacrosse as an expansion team in 2006, immediately staking out their territory with a Western Conference title and a trip to the league championship. In the years since, they have never once missed the playoffs, even when something good was on TV. From their inception, the Outlaws have marauded the league record books, setting attendance records in their inaugural season and improving from there, with recent Fourth of July games drawing more than 30,000 fans to Sports Authority Field at Mile High. This year’s Independence Day game continues the tradition of fireworks exploding over the field and a wave of apple pie filling flooding the parking lot.

The Groupon Guide to: Hotel Amenities

Most people choose a hotel based on what amenities it offers and how many of its TV channels show a live feed of the local city council. Here are some of the amenities that you might be lucky enough to experience on your next trip:

  • Pool full of people who can swim but not as well as you
  • Room service delivered directly to the hotel restaurant
  • Dogs that will keep your sheets warm when you're not using the bed and special electric jackets that will keep the dogs warm
  • Spa where they at least brush your teeth for you instead of just squishing your muscles
  • Unlimited wigs, so you can really feel like you're escaping
  • Rooms where families can go to yell at each other
  • An in-room safe for keeping items so valuable you would never trust yourself to touch them
  • Free wireless Internet that only goes to the hotel's email provider, Hotelwhispers.net
