$49 for a Two-Hour Shooting-Range Package for One ($250 value)

Throughout the two-hour shooting session, guests aerate targets at 25-yard range with bullets from a .22 rifle, 7.62x39-caliber rifle, 500 SW-caliber rifle, 308-caliber rifle, 223-caliber rifle, or 12-gauge shotgun until the ammo runs out (about 60 rounds for rifle, three to four rounds for shotgun). Each package includes gun rental, ammo, targets, and safety gear. First-time visitors must register and take a one-hour safety course at the academy's shop in Glendale—included at no extra charge—before redeeming the two-hour shooting-range package at the training facility in Uniondale. Marksmen take home a safety-certification award as a keepsake of their experience.

Valastro International Academy

Valastro International Academy's staff of experienced law-enforcement officials teaches visitors responsible firearms operation and safe handling inside a private training facility. Classes acquaint clients—from everyday citizens to experienced security guards—in defensive tactics, such as retaining a firearm during a confrontation and defusing an altercation with observational humor. Beyond teaching humans how to defend themselves, Valastro's instructors also include canine trainers who lead basic obedience and housebreaking classes and teach dogs advanced skills such as search-and-rescue and narcotics detection.
