I would be coming from about 30 minutes away with a 6 year old going to first grade in the fall. I am looking for her just to retain her skills she learned in kindergarten, such as reading and math skills. Can I request for her just to come 1 hour a week or is this not feasible?

Amanda: In most situations, one hour per week is not the best schedule to maintain skills. Without meeting your daughter and having a better understanding of actual skills, it would not be reasonable to give you a recommendation. Can the 10 hr deal be used for sat prep?

Jackie: The 10 hour offer is for our academic skills tutoring for reading, writing, math or study skills for all ages. That package is not available for SAT. The evaluation with five hours of tutoring is available for the SAT/ACT prep for high school students.

Are there any additional costs involved for the $199 academic skills eval and 10 hrs tutoring, such as books, study materials,etc.? How are the classes scheduled? Is it 1 hour weekly for 10 weeks? Is the class scheduled for the same day each week? Thanks!

Barbara: There are no additional costs to schedule and use the evaluation and 10 hours of academic skills tutoring. We would probably recommend more than one hour per week but would base that on the results of the evaluation which would be explained to you at the conference scheduled after the evaluation. Students may schedule the same day and time on a regular basis but we have flexibility to schedule at different times on different days to best accommodate the parent and student.
