DeTours

In between their constitution-writing duties, the Founding Fathers often relied on riding horseback and walking around Philadelphia as a form of leisurely entertainment. That laidback approach to travel still resonates at DeTours, which has only replaced the steed with the Segway. After 30-minute training sessions, guides lead up to eight passengers on treks through Center City. Groups zip past sites such as the Liberty Bell and the Philadelphia Art Museum, the spot where Sylvester Stallone performed his infamous tap dance in Rocky.

While the city tour encompasses some of the most famous locales in Philadelphia, DeTours' other journeys zero in on particular themes. The mural tour, stops at 12 stunning artworks, such as a portrait of Edgar Allan Poe and a visual history of Chinatown. The cheesesteak tour stops at five eateries so guests can sample a classic Philly steak topped with onions and whiz.
