In a Nutshell

Professional photographers teach up to 10 students how to properly light, frame & time images of illustrious city & nature sights

The Fine Print

Photographers swiftly capture what sluggish painters cannot, such as the sparkle of a fleeting smile, the identity of a media-shy superhero, or the split-second a peregrine falcon breaks the sound barrier. Attain photographic know-how with today's Groupon: for $49, you get a three-hour Composition in the Field workshop from Digital Photo Academy (a $99 value). Workshops are held on Saturdays and Sundays at various times and locations.

A crew of four professional photographers teaches shutterbugs of all skill levels how to creatively ensnare memories in Digital Photo Academy's array of informative classes. The Composition in the Field class fans artistic flames and helps cameras to break a sweat during three-hour on-location workshops with an intimate group of 10 or fewer people. During each open-air outing, an instructor guides lenses toward flawless lighting, thoughtful framing, and stealthy snapshots of bald eagles not wearing their hairpieces.

Students choose from various class times and locations, including a sightseeing snapfest through the 19th-century architectural labyrinth of Lower Downtown Historic District, a stroll through City Park, and a road gig at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Participants should plan to schlep their own digital camera and any other equipment, such as a tripod or an anti-redeye spell book, to the site of their picturesque adventure.

The Groupon Guide to: Airport Security

The airport's TSA (Toned Squad of Angels) agents act as gatekeepers to the skies. Here's what you'll need to know to pass through TSA territory:

• You will be asked to take off your shoes upon approaching the security checkpoint. Shuffling through security with only a thin layer of sock between you and the floor reminds you that you're still an earthbound human even though you're about to soar through the sky like a big ol' bird.

• Passengers will be asked to pass through a full-body scanner, which uses x-ray technology to search for weapons, incriminating thigh tattoos, and gross ulcers. People who do not want a stranger to look at their underclothing areas can opt out of the scan, but they must go on a romantic yacht date with a TSA agent before being allowed to pass through security.

Liquids in tubes, bottles, or sealed jars are unacceptable because they can't be properly sniffed or spread onto bread for identification purposes. Pour your liquids into plastic grocery bags so that agents can at least run their hands through them.

• Place your laptop computer in its own bin before passing through security. Computers must be examined separately so that agents can edit your screenplay in private.
