Barbecue sauce smothers flame-kissed dinners served amid live entertainment

Like phone numbers and ill-considered doctoral theses, barbecue sauce often ends up on a napkin. Dole out savory blots with this Groupon.

$15 for $30 Worth of American Food and Drinks

The menu includes slow-smoked pork spareribs ($18.99–23.99); a country-fried steak platter with housemade cream gravy, coleslaw, and mashed potatoes ($13.79); and a creamed spinach and artichoke heart enchilada platter with southwestern sauce, tortilla chips, and salsa ($13.49).

Dillon's Restaurant

For the location of the first Dillon's Restaurant, Rich Dillon and George Valverde chose a 1940s Thunderbird Road structure that a writer for the Phoenix New Times described as "a cute, converted old house that looks like grandma's parlor." Since then, they've opened four more eateries in locations that are as appealing as the signature flame-kissed and slow-smoked meats served inside. Wildlife World Zoo & Aquarium's shark tank flanks the dining room of Dillon's at the Zoo, and the boat-accessible Scorpion Bay location opens onto the waters of Lake Pleasant so that diners can chortle as fish attempt to develop democracy. Live music and karaoke lend additional social vibes to the smokehouses.

The Groupon Guide to: Talking to an Old Friend

If you’re going to be out and about in this world, chances are that at some point you will run into an old friend you used to know from summer camp or summer juvenile detention. Here are some things you can say to spark conversation with this long-lost pal:

  • “Hi, I’ve missed you. Let’s see if our hands are still the perfect size for holding each other.”

  • “So, what have you been up to all these years? From the looks of things, you’ve been staying fit, active, and hungry for change.”

  • “Do you remember the pact we made to each other all those years ago? Was it that we would never grow up or never throw up? Because I’ve only been adhering to one of those.”

  • “Get out of my way. I’m very important now and I’m allowed to go right to the front of any buffet line.”

  • “I’m sorry that I stopped writing, but the only things I had to say to you were illegal to put in writing.”

  • “Do you recognize me? You do? Who am I? I had an accident and now I don’t remember anything about my former self. Was I kind and beautiful?”

Was I kind and beautiful?
