Traveling 8–20 miles out into the Central Cook Inlet, Discover Alaskan Adventures’ boats, the M/V Discover I and M/V Discover II, cast lures into 100- to 195-feet-deep waters looking for large halibut. The 28-foot cabin-cruiser fishing boat comes fully equipped with the tackle, bait, and lures guests will need, and the guides will clean and fillet any fish caught. They can vacuum pack and freeze the catch for about $.95 per pound before sealing it into airplane-ready boxes for shipping to anywhere in the United States for an additional cost. The full-day trips last about 6.5–7 hours including the 45-minute voyage to and from the fishing site, and food and drink are not provided; Groupon users should pack their own. The cost of lodging and fishing licenses is not included with this Groupon. Fishing trips fill up fast, so book early for the 2013 season. Check the schedule for upcoming expeditions.

Situated on the bluffs overlooking the scenic volcanoes that line Cook Inlet, Ninilchik’s Volcano View RV Resort not only regales guests with breathtaking views, but with water, electricity, and WiFi as well. The guides take care of everything on fishing trips as well, from supplying the tackle and the boat to sending death notices to the fish's hundreds of brothers and sisters. At the end of fishing trips they can also fillet and seal the fish for shipping to their clients' homes.
