Scientists agree that children are our future, which is why most children are sealed in time capsules with a flashlight and a stack of magazines. Give a child something he or she will really dig with today's Groupon: for $29, you get one month of children's gymnastics classes for students aged 3 to 12 years at Eagle Ridge Gymnastics in Rio Rancho (a $59.74 value). This Groupon entitles holders to one class per week; click here for the schedule.
In an effort to bolster self-confidence and coordination in youngsters, Eagle Ridge Gymnastics founders Brandy and Darlene Wood oversee 22 experienced instructors, who lead weekly 45- to 60-minute children's gymnastics classes by age group. Coed preschool sessions safely place toddlers on balance beams, vaults, trampolines, and the backs of frogs—nature's trampoline—to spur the development of motor skills.
During Kinder-Gym sessions, whippersnappers can hone their strength, flexibility, and balance swinging from rings or clambering aboard the pommel horse. Covering Olympic gymnastics events in a noncompetitive environment, school-age courses for children in grades one and higher teach boys to navigate the parallel bars, vault, and rings and girls to sidle across balance beams and swing from the uneven bars. Both boys and girls in school-age classes experience tumbling training on the specialized floor of the 15,000-square-foot facility. As mini me's acquire grace and the ability to hurdle over napping grandparents, guardians can observe from Eagle Ridge's lobby or mezzanine level.
Eagle Ridge Gymnastics
Though they lead classes for toddlers, children, and teenagers only, the staff at Eagle Ridge Gymnastics holds their facilities to Olympic standards. Inside the 15,000 square-foot studio, 22 experienced instructors guide boys and girls ages 6–15 toward mastery of an in-ground trampoline, two vault runways, six high and low beams, and a full-size spring tumble track. In a preschool area, they help toddlers explore child-sized bars, rings, and beams while pausing for interviews with toddler sports reporters.
From behind a lobby's floor-to-ceiling glass windows or on a mezzanine level, parents can watch as their offspring join in competitive and recreational classes, holiday camps, and summer camps. They can also join in during parent-tot gymnastics classes.
