Though normal boxing combines a total-body workout with the pleasure of being repeatedly punched in the head, cardio boxing combines rope jumping, shadowboxing, and pummeling heavy bags until they cry uncle. Make heavy bags shake in your presence with this Groupon.

With a focus on self-discipline and self-defense, kids, teens, and adults boost their confidence and fitness while learning various combat styles, including karate, Muay Thai, and tae kwon do. Students can also learn the samurai's main defense method during ju-jitsu lessons—in which a soft grappling style prevails—or undertake the western ways of kickboxing—which incorporates fast-paced karate moves.

Edmonton Mixed Martial Arts

Michael Woodford, master instructor at Edmonton Mixed Martial Arts, began studying martial arts at age 6, and over a lifetime of studies, he has earned black belts in ju-jitsu, karate, and tae kwon do and wisdom in the arts of Muay Thai kickboxing and Wing Chun. Throughout his experience in multiple disciplines, Michael has come to believe that the key to any martial arts style is achieving confidence and self-discipline, and that self-defense skills and strength will develop with these assets in place. In his studio, experienced instructors don practice pads or hire a stunt double and teach kids, teens, and adults distancing techniques and hand-to-hand fighting methods. Their practical and functional curriculum blends styles including karate, Muay Thai, kickboxing, tae kwon do, kung fu, Japanese fujitsu, and Brazilian ju-jitsu.

The Groupon Guide to: Backhanded Compliments

Science has proven that it’s almost impossible to say something truly nice to another human being. Unfortunately, maintaining close friendships dictate that you, at the very least, soften your venomous barbs by disguising insults as sly backhanded compliments:

  • “You’re so funny! I wish I could take important things less seriously.”
  • “Great idea! You’re not as stupid as I thought you were for most of my life.”
  • “Nice scarf! It’s like something a handsome person would wear.”
  • “I love your musk! I can always find you in the aisles of Target.”
  • “Happy birthday! I can’t wait to have your decades of wisdom, dignified wrinkles, and rapidly depleting calcium reserves.”

Are your friends using backhanded compliments on you? Find out with today's Groupon Guide.
