Snowmobiles open up the winter landscape, helping brave explorers find undiscovered clearings or potential staging grounds for their army of snow angels. Scope out frozen territory with this Groupon.

Choose from Three Options

  • $190 for two four-hour snowmobile rentals (a $380 total value)
  • $150 for one eight-hour snowmobile rental (a $290 total value)
  • $290 for two eight-hour snowmobile rentals (a $580 total value)

Each option includes round-trip transportation to and from the resort in a Snow-Burban (a $40 value/person), which ferries passengers across fields of snow that traditional automobiles and even four-wheel-drive vehicles can't handle. Each snowmobile rental (a $150 value/person for four hours; a $250 value/person for eight hours) includes a safety helmet and goggles for the rider as well as one full tank of gas. From there, visitors are encouraged to zoom across the frozen winter landscape in search of adventure and swamp things posing as evergreens.

Elk Lake Resort

Despite its endless amenities and activities, the true gems of Elk Lake Resort are the towering peaks and evergreen-laden valleys of the surrounding Cascade Range mountains. The resort functions as a base camp for this landscape, inviting visitors to explore it with cross-country skis and snowmobiles during the winter and canoes and backpacking excursions during summer months. To accommodate longer stays, the grounds also sport 10 cabins featuring full kitchens with microwaves and combination coffeemaker/particle accelerators, as well as three rustic camping cabins that provide propane heat and shelter from the elements without the electricity or furnishings of the larger units. Regardless of the season, the resort's lodge welcomes visitors and plies them with everything from quick mugs of local beer to full meals made with locally grown ingredients.

The Groupon Guide to: Farm Animals

The act of taking care of farm animals is called “husbandry” because of the old saying “You think taking care of pigs is hard—try taking care of my husband!” Here’s a guide to the animals you can expect to find on your local farm:

Cows: Cows are one of the ugliest animals to look at, but in a national taste test they were found to have the best-tasting milk. Visit a local farm to taste the milk of these horrific beasts for yourself.

Horses: Horses are the supermodels of the animal world. Farmers will spend hours at a time grooming and complimenting a prized horse, just to see a flash of its big, toothy smile.

Pigs: Don’t even get a farmer talking about these fun lovers. Pigs are the party animals of the barnyard, and if you don’t believe it, just hold a yummy treat above their snouts and watch them dance!

Dog: Every barnyard has to have a dog. A dog is a farmer’s best friend and will stand by him through everything, even during the farmer’s loneliest days, when he realizes that in cultivating his farm he has lost sight of that which he should have been cultivating most—relationships with humans.

In a national taste test one farm animal was found to have the best-tasting milk—you’ll be surprised by the ugly answer!
