  • $52 for a 90-minute massage (a $110 value)

After meeting with clients, Kara customizes each massage to include deep-tissue massage, trigger-point therapy, myofascial release, Swedish massage, or pregnancy massage. Deep-tissue massage and trigger-point therapy loosen knots with slow, focused strokes. Myofascial release increases range of motion with both direct and indirect pressure as well as stretching motions. Swedish massage encourages relaxation and subdues stress, and pregnancy massage uses similar techniques that are tailored to the needs of expectant mothers.

Emerald Therapeutic Massage

Though Kara Ouellette was a dancer, her graceful movements were hampered by constant pain. She turned to several different treatments but only found relief through massage therapy. Free of discomfort, Kara earned her degree and landed a job in corporate sales. When her interest in massage continued to grow, she attended Cortiva Institute, where she developed a strong foundation in massage therapy. After receiving her massage-therapy license, she became a member of the American Massage Therapy Association and founded Emerald Therapeutic Massage. Today, Kara mends muscles with modalities such as Swedish, deep-tissue, and pregnancy massage while wearing green-tinted glasses. In addition to building her practice, Kara volunteered her services by providing post-event chair massages for the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge—which raises money for cancer research—at the 2011 Boston Marathon.
