Choose Between Two Options
- $49 for a three-hour Photography Fundamentals workshop (a $150 value)
- $89 for a three-hour Golden Gate at the Golden Hours workshop (a $178 value)
During the fast-paced, hands-on fundamentals workshop, students learn and practice up to 100 photographic techniques, such as controlling exposure, focus, aperture, and shutter speed, leading participants to take their cameras to the next level and leave automatic mode behind. They may also learn how to use artificial and natural light and how to select the proper lens for snapping portraits, in-motion shots, or family portraits in bad Christmas sweaters. Participants explore their artistic side as they learn how to frame compositions and blur backgrounds for dramatic effect. They should bring their own digital camera for a hands-on experience.
Alternatively, up to 15 students start at the Golden Gate Bridge to learn about snapping sunsets, silhouettes, and dusk-lit images. Bring your own DSLR camera to capture the iconic bridge at day’s end with ideal composition, light painting, exposure bracketing, and filters. Slow-exposure photography requires a tripod, which can be rented for an additional $10. This workshop begins 1.5 hours before sunset.
Eric Gould Photography
Having shot more than 30,000 subjects throughout his career as a photographer, including many Silicon Valley business figures, Eric Gould understands how to create a good photo in any setting. His adeptness at communicating with subjects carries into his photography workshops, where he conveys difficult concepts clearly and methodically, saving students from such rookie mistakes as shooting with the lens cap on or turning the flash on while taking pictures of your imaginary friend's third grade graduation. In his own photo sessions, he frames professional clients in business portraits and headshots, high-school seniors in youthful poses, athletes in midaction, and a wide spectrum of people and places encountered on international travels.
