I love this place for its unlimited mussels on Tuesday nights. They mentioned that it is toward the daily specials, but did not say anything about the Tuesday mussels.
Bad deal unless you were planning to eat there anyway. A good deal is a half price meal. For 2 people spending 100 for dinner, it is 15 percent off, not enough to induce you to try a new place.

Can I use this groupon for dinner after 9 pm on a Saturday night?

You can use this towards all the specials, including mussels! The only thing you can not use this Groupon towards is Brunch.

Dearest Groupon Gods/Goddesses… YOU HAVE JUST MADE MY DAY!!!!! ___ I love this place (never thought of it as “Jewish-Latin” until now) and I love it even more now that it’s half off. dances with glee Though :( about the limit 3 per person fine print. I was already planning how many times I could possibly visit there by the expiration date. Heh… I can still buy more than 3 but as gifts right? Cheers Groupon entities! :)
Wait – does this mean that things on their regular appetizers menu (ie. braised short ribs) or their regular menu (mac and cheese, trio of potato pancakes) are not subject to this groupon deal? Perhaps, someday, on a Tuesday night, I may not want to eat all-I-can-eat-mussels, but still want to eat at Essex and use this groupon. Will that work? Let me know – thanks.

This place is good, but I have to second the ridiculousness of the “Jewish-Latin fusion” tag… The only thing even remotely Jewish on the dinner menu is the potato pancakes, and it’s loaded with things that are decidedly un-Jewish, or at least unkosher (like shellfish, cheeseburgers, and pork)!
Can you go by yourself and sit at the bar and still use this groupon?

Hi Lina! So I know you’ve said you can use this for anything but brunch about a million times, but I wanted to make ABSOLUTELY sure this is good for the happy hour drinks and oysters. As you know, the Poco one says it’s good for that too, but quite a few of us went over and were shamed for trying to use the Groupon at Happy Hour. I would love to hear from restaurant management on the board!

I am not clear on your answer to Amy’s ?? as to whether you can sit at the bar and use the Groupon. Can you please let us know if the Groupon can be used sitting at the bar dining alone?

What Happen at Poco… I purchased that groupon but didn’t use it yet… Is there somthing I should know????
The Groupon CAN be used tonight.
At Poco it CLEARLY was stated that you could use it for Happy Hour (just none of the Pre-Fixe stuff) and when we went we were specifically told “This is not good for Happy Hour Drinks”. We ended up going over the amount on our Groupon by $12 — the exact price of $6 more on 2 drinks than we would have spent if we had paid Happy Hour Prices.
When you go INSIST that you can use it — maybe even print the discussion column from that Groupon to prove that Groupon clearly states it can be used for Happy Hour.

That was something that was miscommunicated and not something that ever happens on Groupon really ever. Again, my apologies it was a change that Poco made after the feature.

Don’t care what you call the food, Fusion, or not, the food here is always fresh and tasty. Have eaten here several times and it has been consistantly above average. To the people who say their bill is in excess of $100.00; That is only if you are drinking, which will happen in every restaurant you go to. The drinks are alway strong, not watered down, like some other restaurants.
Is this groupon combinable with the $10 gift card from vPunch rewards?
Just so everyone knows, you MUST present your Groupon as you are seated. We gave ours to the waitress at the end of our dinner and she refused to take it. It does say to present it to them upon seating in the instructions, it just didn’t cross my mind that if we didn’t do this the deal is off… Instead of saving me money on one dinner, I guess now we’re eating there twice.
I agree that I wouldn’t necessarily call it Jewish or Latin but the food was pretty good and the prices were rather reasonable. Great deal!
although i generally do like the place, it is still not jewish, not latin, not fusion
and not a “hot spot”. and they serve the tiniest lobsters on the planet.
i’m not saying don’t buy, just telling you the whole jewish-latin fusion is a fairy tale.
