A meeting on January 12 kicks off the Skinny Jeans Challenge, covering the rules, expectations, and the contents of the program's playbook. Participants hang up a pair of their current jeans and pose for a "before" picture. Over the following eight weeks, they attend as many fitness classes as they'd like while filling out the nutrition-journal portion of their playbook. They’ll discuss these journals during weekly meetings, which take place at 8 p.m. on Wednesdays or 8 a.m. on Saturdays. During these meetings, coaches will answer questions and measure each person's progress. At the end of the program, members try on their old jeans and snap "after" photographs.

Instructors lead two types of fitness lessons: Group X Fitness, a high-intensity cross-training class, and Bodiography, a mix of Pilates, yoga, and strength-building exercises. Click here for a class schedule.

F.A.S.T.E.R.

Though he doesn’t drive an ambulance or a squad car, personal trainer Jason "Coach" DeRose has personally helped boost the speed of local emergency personnel. His 12-week weight- and fat-loss competition between the Robinson police and EMS departments, which was featured on CBS, pitted participants against each other with nothing but full-body exercises and nutrition guidelines. Jason uses the same total-body regimen during the majority of his fitness programs at F.A.S.T.E.R.. Whether supervising law officers, professional athletes, or complete gym novices, he and his staff push students to achieve their individual fitness goals in five types of programs, including boot camps and private training sessions. They also lead sports training sessions that work to boost an athlete’s performance without having to blindfold their opponents.

In the interest of holistic health, F.A.S.T.E.R. also boasts a chiropractic section helmed by certified rehabilitation physician Dr. Caleb Barnard. His services address ailments that range from ruptured discs to athletic injuries, drawing upon state-of-the-art methods such as vibration treatments and un-weighted treadmill therapy. Dr. Barnard also supplements his spinal care with massages from Brian Barthelemy, whose mastery of Swedish, trigger point, and myofascial release modalities serves to unknot tense muscles.

The Groupon Guide to: Modern New Year's Resolutions

Society is changing faster than many of us can keep up, so it’s more important than ever that you dedicate the following year to one or more of these modern New Year’s resolutions:

  • I will gradually shift out all the air bubbles out from beneath the adhesive screen protector of my smartphone or tablet device.

  • I will limit my daily Internet time to 27 hours a day.

  • I will only buy my developing infants garish toys patterned in black, red, and white so the muscles behind their tiny eyes grow stronger with each glance.

  • I will pop only when I trust myself to be able to stop.

  • I will lose weight by joining nature’s gym: parkour.

  • I will finish at least three Kindles.

Can these modern New Year’s resolutions transform your entire life?
