The tornado that struck Joplin, Missouri, on May 22 destroyed homes and displaced families across a 6-mile swathe of land. The storm was categorized as an F-5 by the NOAA National Weather Service—the most dangerous level a tornado can reach. Family-to-Family links families in need with donating families who would like to assist them. Currently the organization is conducting a campaign to aid those affected by the Joplin tornado.
Many of the people affected by the storm are moving out of shelters and into temporary housing with very few home necessities such as coffee makers, clothing, bedding, and cooking supplies. Family-to-Family asks affected families to complete a questionnaire with a detailed list of needs and then donor families fill a personalized package with some of the requested goods. Sponsored families receive one box filled with necessities each month for three months.
Join G-Team and donate $5 to help Family-to-Family provide those affected by the Joplin tornado with everyday necessities. If G-Team members raise $300, Family-to-Family can provide one family with a series of three boxes filled with requested items during a three-month period. Each additional donation will go toward funding three months of boxes for another family.
Unlike traditional Groupon deals, G-Team campaigns typically don't offer you a "discount" or "savings." So "buyer" beware—when you click "Buy" to donate your time or money to a worthwhile G-Team cause, the only discount you may receive is 100% off free, priceless karma. Read more about G-Team.
