Questions and Answers
Can this deal be used anywhere in the US?
I purchased my Groupon for the $4 movie ticket and tried to purchase one as a gift. It keeps saying that I have to buy 1, but it is auto-filled so I can’t even delete it and then re-enter it. Any suggestions?
Can I buy more than ONE at $4? :(
I need to use my coupon this evening. You say I can’t have it till tomorrow. I don’t want to buy it for tomorrow, I need it for a 7:20 p.m. show tonight??? What do I do now? Connie
I tried to purchase the Groupon for the $4 movie ticket and it says I need to log-in first….but I’m already logged in. Any ideas?
@ Connie B.. read the fine print.. you can’t use the coupon till the day after you purchase :(

Hey gang, Sean from Groupon. You can use this Groupon for new releases and it can be used anywhere across the US. But, you can only buy one – either for yourself or as a gift. Sorry!
Sahra – log-out and then log back in. That may solve it.
You can only buy ONE. BoooooooOooooOOooooO!!!!!!
I also purchased a movie coupon for someone and was assured by the prompt that I could purchase one for myself, but then was only able to purchase the one ticket. What’s up with that?
Need more than one ticket…Do not want to go by myself!!

Again, sorry, there’s a one ticket limit with this Groupon. Make your friend buy one too!

@Lori G., like on an airplane, save yourself FIRST next time, huh? That’s not nice that it says we can purchase for gifting but then we can’t.
While I’m at it, can GROUPON programmers make it so that we can purchase both for ourselves and for gifting at the same time? ANOTHER service allows it, why not here?
I guess not everyone understands “one ticket limit.” Of course this is a deal where most of us would purchase 10, if we could. So, I just sent the link to my friends. I think most of them can come up with $4 for a movie they can watch sometime over the next year. Thanks, Groupon! – Joe
The theaters in my area charge about 6.50 (+1 convenience charge) on average for a new release on fandango. So if I buy 2 tickets using this code, will it cover all the way upto 12 dollars OR only $7.50?
can this groupon be used at any theater?
Hooray! This is awesome! I spend so much money on movies.

Hi Julia – This is John from Groupon. Fandango tickets can be used at 16,000 theaters nationwide. You can go to fandango.com and search theaters near you to see which ones participate.
Hi Shermila – The code you will get will cover $12 of cost on Fandango.com. It can cover taxes, convenience charges and if your tickets are cheaper where you live, it can be partially applied to a second ticket.
Can this be used at a theater in GA that participates with Fandango?

@Carole – yes, if the theater in GA participates with Fandango, you can use the code you’ll get.
I live in Flowood, MS. There is a theater very close to me that is a participant in Fandango. How can I find out if this will work there?
John, so this really isn’t a groupon for a movie ticket it is really a groupon for $12 in fandango bucks since it can be used on multiple tickets until the $12 is used up or conversely if your spending $15 on a regular movie ticket then you pay the difference…correct?
how do i link friends to this? it keeps bringing me to a bagel promotion instead of the movie deal.
What are “Fandango’s Theater Partners” and can the coupon be used in any state?
Can I use the Groupon code toward Metropolitan Opera HD which will be atarting in September? They are around $25.

Hi everyone – earlier I commented the value could be partially applied to a second ticket. I need to correct that. The code can only be applied to a single ticket.

Fandango theater partners include the nation’s leading exhibitors: AMC Theatres, Carmike Cinemas, Century Theatres, Cinemark Theatres, Edwards Theatres, Regal Cinemas and United Artists Theatres, as well as American Cinematheque, Brenden Theatres, CineArts Theatres, Cinebarre, Cineplex Odeon Cinemas, Cobb Theatres, Hollywood Theatres, IMAX, Kerasotes Theatres, Majestic Crest Theatre, Premiere Theatres, R/C Theatres, Wehrenberg Theatres, and Winchester Theatres.
Hi! I sent my referral link but it directs my friends to a bagel groupon? Any suggestions?
Not fair, John. I purchased my Groupon based on your original statement that it could be applied to more than one ticket :(
ditto
Is it only redeemable online? What if online ticketing is not available on the theater near me?
can someone from groupon walk us through how to send someone our referral link to for this deal?

Hey guys, Sean from Groupon again. This is my deal. John was filling-in as I had to go offline for a couple of hours.
Reiterating John’s correction, this Groupon can only be used for one ticket – up to a $12 value. If you buy a ticket for $9, you will NOT be able to use the remaining $3 in value. Even with this, we think this is a pretty good deal. But it’s up to you to buy or not buy. We totally understand if you change your mind about this. Just go to ‘My Groupons’ using the ‘My Stuff’ tab and click the ‘edit purchase’ link.
If you want to tell friends about the deal, forward your Fandango email or send them this link: http://www.groupon.com/deals/fandango-email/?utm_source=aaboard.
Louise, I’ll check on the Metropolitan Opera HD movie.
I’m an existing member of Fandango, already, could I use this deal ?
If we use this link: http://www.groupon.com/deals/fandango-email/?utm_source=aaboard
will we still get a referral credit?
sean my question isn’t how to send a link, my question is how to use our referral link and send this deal to our friends and get credit. if that’s not possible just let us know
also, i am confused. it says we could purchase this as a gift? i am trying to send one to my friend whose birthday is tomorrow, but it won’t work?
I love this deal and think it’s great even if it’s just 1 ticket at $4. Thank you Sean, John and Groupon!
If I ‘refer’ a friend via the ‘share’ link over the offer (rather than the share link in my profile) I want to share…do I still get the credit for referring? I tried using the link in my profile but then the deal I want to share is not there… cannot find it.

I’m trying to purchase multiple gifts — am I only allowed to purchase one gift?
I’m getting a message “There were some problems with your order… Amount is invalid. You must purchase exactly 1.”
It says I can give the groupon as a gift, but… can I only purchase one as a gift? …and… now that I purchased the one as a gift, I cannot purchase one for myself!!
: (
Any suggestions? I’ve tried it in multiple browsers (safari, chrome) and the problem still remains. I tried increasing the quantity on the first gift I purchased and it wouldn’t let me increase the quantity.
Please help, groupon, you’re my only hope! : )
WooHoo! Gotta love a $4 movie ticket!
Who goes to movies lonely? Please let us buy one as a gift too!

Attn: Groupon Staff
I’m in St. Louis – can I still purchase this deal even though it’s an “Orange County” deal? Or will it not work for me? Please advise.
Thanks!!

So, I purchased one about two hours ago and still have not received any email confirmation or code…..
Will this work @ Regal in Silver Spring, MD or Rockville, MD??
can you please answer about the referral link! i got freinds that want to buy it so i need to know!
Irene, my confirmation was delayed a little, so if it doesn’t show up by later this afternoon, then definitely be concerned. Still waiting on an answer from Groupon on how to share a link to Groupon/this deal and get credit for it???
@Mahdi R. – Nobody goes to the movies alone, that’s why you refer a friend to this website so they can purchase one and you can earn $10! =] Now we just have to wait for one of the Groupon Staff members to walk us through on how to refer a friend because that process seems to have us all confused at the moment.
i’m sorry, im still confused. i live in nyc, can i use this groupon in NYC???? i’m not even sure why orange county is showing up for me. please clarify if you can use the ticket in nyc. thank you,.
Once the Groupon deal is finished at EOD, will our Groupon # be our promo code? How do we apply the discount at check out tomorrow, or whenever we decide to redeem? Thanks!
do you have to live in Orange County to get the deal? I just purchased, then saw that?
Can this ticket be used a Cinebistro at Cobb Theaters?

how long before i get my coupon code after purchasing? thanks
If people would take the time to read the replies from Groupon staff (above), you will see that the Groupon can be used at any Fandango theater, not just ones in OC.
I have a different question about multiple groupons:
Both my wife and I have separate groupon accounts. We both bought 1 groupon each.
Can we use both groupons in the same transaction from one fandango account?
Thanks.
referral link is in the top right corner, click on it to refer friends!!
How do I refer this deal to a friend?
How do I refer this deal to a friend? The sharing link shows some other deal
cynthia – nobody is asking where the referral link is, as it stands now nobody knows how to use the referral link to refer people to this deal and the folks at groupon are not commenting on this one way or the other
One more question,
can I use the value of this Groupon for more expensive movie ticket and pay the difference between movie ticket price and value of the groupon?
Thanks
This was my original question:
I understand that the code can be used for only one ticket BUT can I use the Groupon code TOWARD Metropolitan Opera HD which will be starting in September? They are around $25.
Per Sean S:Louise, I’ll check on the Metropolitan Opera HD movie.
No one has clarified this ….
YES – the QUESTION is…how can we refer a friend TO THIS DEAL (not the bagel deal) and STILL get the refer a friend credit? I have sent 2 out and they are getting the bagel link .

I too am waiting to see how we refer this particular deal. The referral link is for the bagel deal so curious to find out how we get groupon credit through the fandango referral.
You can’t get a referral credit on this deal. I called CS. They told me it was Fandango’s deal through them and not their deal, so no credits will be given.
(wow. who knew a $4 groupon could cause so much discussion)
Yes….please tell us how to refer this deal AND get referrel credit. no one is thinking about sending their friends a bagel coupon when there are $4 movie tickets out on the loose!
If you use the email option to send a referal to a friend the correct link seems to be attaching.
I am actually wondering about already having an existing account with Fandango. I assume this is just a promotion for those that do not have one correct?
I have no complaints. A movie at night for $4 is a great deal. My husband can get his own ticket. :) Thanks Groupin and Fandango!
So Will I Receive The Actual Coupon Tomorrow?
I had no problems…the confirmation came about 2 minutes after purchased!
Do I have to have an account with Fandango to use this groupon? And if I’m required to, after I buy this groupon, do I redeem the code on Fandango in order to get the actual ticket?
Sorry, I don’t use Fandango so I’m kinda fuzzy on the details, but there’s a Regal Cinema nearby so, yeah, couldn’t resist.
Thanks.
Is this only for theatres in Orange County or can I use it Florida (just moved) ??
Is this good for Holiday Stadium 10 in Wallingford, CT
Replies from Groupon staff (above), already stated it can be used at any Fandango theater, not just ones in OC.
Laureen: The link that I’m referring my friends to is not working.
Do you know why? Its referring my friends to a bagel link?
>Nhu: I just got my groupon with the promotional code. According to the instruction, you have to register for an account on Fandango, wait til TOMORROW, sign in, redeem the code on Fandango, then print out the actual ticket at home or at theater.
>Elizabeth: John from Groupon said, and I quote: “Fandango tickets can be used at 16,000 theaters nationwide. You can go to fandango.com and search theaters near you to see which ones participate. Fandango theater partners include the nation’s leading exhibitors: AMC Theatres, Carmike Cinemas, Century Theatres, Cinemark Theatres, Edwards Theatres, Regal Cinemas and United Artists Theatres, as well as American Cinematheque, Brenden Theatres, CineArts Theatres, Cinebarre, Cineplex Odeon Cinemas, Cobb Theatres, Hollywood Theatres, IMAX, Kerasotes Theatres, Majestic Crest Theatre, Premiere Theatres, R/C Theatres, Wehrenberg Theatres, and Winchester Theatres.”

This is awesome. I love it. If only theaters caught on..
Chrisy N. Yes the link in the upper corner goes to the Bagel thing for me as well no idea whay…but when I clicked on the evelope where it says “Share this deal” it opens an email and I clicked on the link it put in there and it does go to the $4 Movie offer.
Thanks Tina for clarifying the instructions for redeeming!!!
What about my unique question that has not been answered:
This was my original question:
I understand that the code can be used for only one ticket BUT can I use the Groupon code TOWARD Metropolitan Opera HD which will be starting in September? They are around $25.
Per Sean S:Louise, I’ll check on the Metropolitan Opera HD movie.
No one has clarified this ….
Sorry if this has already been answered. I purchased the Groupon, and it appears under my Groupons. What do I do now? I just created a new Fandango account, but I haven’t received any code that other commenters are referring to.
Louise: Reiterating John’s correction, this Groupon can only be used for one ticket – up to a $12 value. so i’d go w/ NO it can’t be used for a ticket that is $25.
I’m trying to refer my friends to this link and am having the same trouble as everyone else – it goes to the bagels!
How do I refer friends to get the credit when they sign up and buy this? I don’t want to miss out on $10 groupon bucks each time one of them registers and buys this ticket!
Please tell us how to refer to this deal and get the credit!
put all my information in. It is only allowing me to purchase one. Period. Is that right? Why can’t I purchase one for myself and one as a gift? Why does it ask me if I want to gift another groupon if it won’t let me??
@Akaya: Good grief. It’s a $4 ticket. Anyone who is smart and enjoys movies would buy the deal regardless of whether or not it could be applied to multiple tickets. Forgive John’s mistake and enjoy your movie.
ya this is an awesome deal! i was bummed you can only buy one but you still are saving!
you just have to log back in with another account info. it’s for new users only i think. i signed up me and my husband, and ill do my mom, and dad.
Louise- Here is the fine print on the deal. I think you can use it up to $12 value and then pay the difference.
Although movie stars get to eat at top restaurants and enjoy VIP status at movie premieres, the paparazzi’s merciless pumpkin pie salvos make being an actor one of the world’s worst jobs. Observe the suffering stars onscreen with today’s Groupon, which gets you one movie ticket for $4 (up to a $12 value) on Fandango, for redemption at any of Fandango’s partner theaters. Your promotional code must be redeemed online by February 28, 2011. Buyers must pay any balance due by credit or debit card if the ticket price (including online-convenience fee) exceeds the maximum $12 value.
Why does it ask my if I want to purchase another Groupon if the system won’t let me? Why can you only buy one? That doesn’t make sense. It doesn’t go unless a number of people purchase. Why not allow people to purchase up to 4 or something. You would hit your numbers then. I could take my colleage to the movies instead of just sending her.
I think people missed Lisa J.’s comment above regarding referring friends – apparently you CANNOT refer friends to this deal per Fandango.
Thanks bBarbara. I will ignore Jentry’s disinformation!
How can I go through ebates to purchase this deal?

To Karen E, this is a great deal for you to see a movie. If you want to go with others, tell them about the deal and have them sign up. They can get a great deal and join you. The reason you can’t buy more than one is because they don’t want to go bankrupt. Groupon gets a ton of new members, and we get a great deal.
Ok so the deal is awesome $4 for a movie ticket. I already had a fandango account I dont have to be new to redeem the movie ticket right?
So if you can only buy one sign up another account and pay with a different cc. Quit complaining. It is a friggen good deal. Jeez people.
How will I get the $10 credit? I posted the link to my facebook page. A couple of my friends wrote me saying they clicked the link but don’t see the Fandango deal.
I understand the tickets are good at certain theaters. I read the fine print that the coupons can NOT be applied to IMAX and 3D movies. I was wondering if someone could clarify if this means that the coupons are not redeemable for those types of shows or that the coupons are redeemable but we would have to pay the difference after applying the coupon to those types of movies.
@Todd T. if you have mulitple email addresses in your home or for yourself you can purchase a ticket for each email address that you provide. I have purchased four tickets for my home by using my email address, spouse and son’s email. I even used the same credit card for each transaction. Hope this helps!!
just click on the buy now button provided in the original email from fandango
@ Camden…..was wondering since you used different email addresses to buy multiple tickets…..did you get the $10 referral?
I have fandago bucks (gift card threw Fandago. Can I use this since this is a fandago deal?
Hey gang, it’s Sean from Groupon. I’m still working on this. It seems to me that if you click the ‘share this deal’ links at the top of this section (just under the blue sign-in bar), that those links will give you credit and bring friends back to this particular deal. If you click the ‘refer friends, get $10’ link at the top of the page, friends will be directed to today’s deal in the OC. There are a ton of dependencies with these links, so I’m asking my tech folks to confirm.
Louise – still waiting to hear back from Fandango on your question.
Thanks for being patient and for buying this Groupon!
I logged out and back in…Trying to purchase an additional ticket one at a time for my kids and husband. It still gives an error message. Any suggestions on how to make the additional purchases?
KRW it says 1 per person, I assume you have to create an account for each of people you want a ticket for.
thanks adam

How do I get this deal? Thanks!
Frustrated it won’t let me buy any as gifts. Why won’t it let us do this?
Sean, “share this deal” has no link. But when I click on the “email this deal” icon right beside “share this deal”, the link does not seem to have any information about my account. How will it give a referral credit to me?

PEOPLE; PAY ATTENTION HERE!!!! THE COUPON IS FOR ONE PURCHASE, OF ONE TICKET ONLY. IF YOU HAVE FRIENDS OR FAMILY MEMBERS, THEY NEED TO PURCHASE THEIR OWN TICKET USING THEIR OWN EMAIL ADDRESS AS THEY NEED TO REGISTER WITH FANDANGO! IF YOU ALREADY REGISTERED, YOU JUST NEED TO SIGN IN. THE COUPON IS FOR OVER 16,000 LOCATIONS NATIONWIDE, SO YES, IT CAN BE USED IN YOUR TOWN. I LIVE IN NJ AND WAS ABLE TO PURCHASE THE TICKET. UPON PURCHASE, YOU WILL RECEIVE A LINK TO THE TICKET; PRINT IT OUT WHEN YOU ARE READY TO USE IT! IF YOU WISH TO SEND THE OFFER TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY MEMBERS, YOU NEED TO CUT, PASTE, AND SEND THE LINK….
http://www.groupon.com/deals/fandango-email/?utm_source=aaboard.
So is this available in ANY city???

PS- I WAS ABLE TO CONSTRUCT A REFERRAL LINK FOR THIS OFFER AND SEND IT TO MY FRIENDS AS WELL…
Nevermind…just read the previous post:)

I HAVE REASON TO BELIEVE THAT THIS DEAL ORIGINATED IN ORANGE COUNTY, AS THAT IS PROBABLY WHERE THE FANDANGO HEADQUARTERS IS LOCATED. THE OFFER CAN BE USED NATIONWIDE.
Just a note:
After I purchased my ticket on the side it asked to share the deal with my friends. Hopefully this will get me a $10 credit, if not at least my friends are saving.

one would think you could get 2 tickets with this offer as most ( not all)people go to the movies with another person
Group On is RIGHT ON! You are AWESOME! I just signed up from my uncle’s referral link and I bought my first ever Groupon with this Fandango Ticket. Thank you for the great deal!
Wow. Some people really are hilarious. A little research on your own goes a long way. Read the small print, etc. Thanks, Groupon!
You guys are making me crazy. This is such a simple and great deal. You buy, you print, you use!
Why make this so hard?
Its fandango, it does not matter where you live, etc etc!
I referred someone and they bought and printed out their coupon already. How long will it take for me to get the $10 credit?
Can you only do one or the other? buy one for yourself or a friend. I bought one for me and wont let me buy for friend. It says i must buy 1 but it is already filled in with 1.
Hey Groupon, I actually LIVE in Orange County and have been an active member of Groupon for awhile. I only found out about this deal by reading the Bagel offer comments. I did not receive the e-mail about the offer. I will NOT be buying this offer. While it is a great deal I think that when Fandango put the single ticket restriction in place it takes the fun out of the outing. I am not willing to go to the length of using mulitple e-mail addresses to purchase mulitple tickets since (as many people have posted) I do not go to the theater alone.
This is an awesome deal thanks guys!

PLEASE READ THE WHOLE GROUPON DETAILS BEFORE ASKING THE SAME QUESTIONS OVER AND OVER.
YOUR QUESTION REGARDING THE $25 METROPOLITAN TICKET:
Buyers must pay any balance due by credit or debit card if the ticket price (including online-convenience fee) exceeds the maximum $12 value.
LIMIT 1 TICKET PER PERSON:
Expires Feb 28, 2011
Limit 1 per person. Must register Fandango account. Valid for 1 ticket worth up to $12. Not valid for IMAX or 3D movies. Not for resale. No cash back.
QUESTIONS REGARDING WHERE YOU CAN REDEEM THE FANDANGO TICKETS:
Convenient online redemption
More than 16,000 screens nationwide
THIS DEAL WAS OFFERED UNDER ORANGE COUNTY’S DAILY DEALS BUT YOU CAN REDEEM THIS GROUPON AT ANY OF FANDANGO’S PARTNER THEATERS.
For folks asking when they’ll see their referral credit – I do a lot of referrals, and it seems to take 36-48 hours for the credits to show up in my account. So if they purchase today’s deal, I’ll probably see the $10 credit the day after tomorrow.

Even if you were only able to purchase 1 ticket and go with 2 people, it’ll still save you $8 bucks!
You can pay full price for 2 people at $24 or buy 1 groupon and pay $16 for 2 people. That’s $8 a person!
Still a great deal! Thanks Groupon!
can i use this in las vegas becoz i didn’t see name of las vegas in city list.
Can I pay with Paypal rather than use a credit card?
Does anyone know how to redeem this? I have a fandango account already. I’m not quite sure how this works its the first time I’ve used groupon.
I also poster the link for credit. I know for sure that someone purchased, yet I don’t see a credit. Can someone explain how this works?
I also posted the link for credit on FaceBook. I know for sure that someone purchased, yet I don’t see a credit. Can someone explain how this works?
Looks like any regular referral links won’t work, as people have to navigate around the site to register then manually go to the fandango deal to purchase. Groupon should honor these referrals IMO; as clear instructions/correct referrral links weren’t specified in the deal/anywhere. It was only in a note above on this page that a staff member said it had to be from the little icon links on this deal page only.
However, not sure if it will process correctly should someone register after clicking on a referral link but then buys by manually going to todays deal.
so we don’t get the referral credit. i referred 4 people already and they bought them and signed up and now you tell me i wont get a credit. that is really not fair.
The FAQ says: If someone joins Groupon within 72 hours after clicking your link, we’ll notify you within 24 hours of their first purchase and automatically add $10 Groupon Bucks to your account
So it should work if they register after clicking on ANY referral link, then that person buys a deal on their own (or through a “wrong” link to todays deal) The problem is, a regular referral today goes to the bagel deal, so most people probably just went to the “register” link instead of clicking buy. According to the faq though, that shoudl still be valid, as the registration came after clicking on a referral link.
Credits aren’t applied until the next day. My referral link is working.
I just bought one for myself and am trying to buy one for a friend and it’s not letting me. Any helpful hints?
Can someone other than the listed recipient use the ticket_
Where is the Fandango deal? It magically disappeared!
I just bought a ticket and then found out there are no Fandango participating theaters in my area. Can I give my ticket to someone else or is it not transferable?
Kanchan K., are there any Fandango-participating theaters in Vegas? If so, then yes, you can use this in Vegas.
Christine D., no PayPal.
(Y’all have a way of making something pretty simple really complicated.) :D

Hey gang, looks like there are a ton of people who are going to hit the movies this weekend! Thanks for checking out this Groupon!
Louise, I was able to confirm that you can use your Fandango code to deduct $12 from your Metropolitan Opera ticket. Enjoy the show!
It won’t let me buy it! When I click on the button to complete the purchase, the alert “Amount is invalid. You must purchase exactly 1” shows up even though I only tried to buy 1 Groupon. In fact, the quantity can’t be adjusted so I don’t even know why this alert is showing up. Can somebody inform me of how I can get through this bug to purchase the Groupon?
Says you can’t use it until tomorrow, bummer. I am going to the movies tonight xD
why can’t i reedem my ticket. I created a account on fandango??
I know it says not valid for IMAX movies, but can we just apply the $12 to the ticket and then pay the difference?

Forget all this hype; I accidentally discovered the coolest way to bypass the “system”. A lot of theatres these days are offering alternative ways to buy—i.e. electronic kiosks, located just off to the side of the box office. Swipe your preferred form of plastic and purchase tickets at either a CHILD rate or SENIOR CITIZEN rate! The kiosk has no way to judge your actual age! Imagine paying CHILD rate for an R-rated flick—yeah! Pure genius—moo, ha, ha, ha…
Keep complaining and they just won’t offer deals like this anymore. Limit 1 means Limit 1. If you don’t like it, too bad.
My husband signed up to get the $4 ticket but wasn’t able to get to the link through my referral, how do i go about getting the credit, since i did “refer” him?
@Lyfa Lee Z. – The ticket says “Adult” or “Child” right on it in most places. You aren’t getting away with anything dummy. The usher is most likely assuming you are a) Stupid or b) a cheap skate. And since they make minimum wage they aren’t gonna go through the hassle of calling you on it.
Hmmm…my husband bought one on his own account…but it sent us both the exact same promo code :( Guess I’ll have to make sure it didn’t charge us for two.
Seriously people are you ratarded? Read other peoples post to get you answers. Most of you questions have ALREADY been answered. Why are you so freakin greedy. The deal is for ONE ticket. Why can’t you just be thankful.
before you call names… do a spell check…. it’s spelled retarded…. makes you sound like the retarded one when you can’t even spell it correctly.

Attn: Groupon staff
I don’t think anyone has posted about this issue yet, so here goes:
I am not normally a Fandango user, so I went to their website to check things out. I did what was psted by a staff member earlier— I searched to see if the theatre I go to (I only go to one here in Little Rock) was on the list. It was— so I bought the Groupon. THEN I went back to look at more details and saw the itty bitty fine print beside the theatre I wanted to go to. It said (and I’m paraphrasing): “this theatre is not available for online purchase”. In TINY print. I wrote Fandango to find out what this meant. It means I can’t buy tickets to that theatre— they’re not a partner with Fandango! Needless to say, I’m pretty upset. The website is definitely misleading, but I made the dumb mistake to not search for the fine print. I even told my sister about the deal and she bought the Groupon too— that we now cannot use. Is there any way to get a refund?
Thanks, Stephanie Diamond in Little Rock
Not here for the deal, but just to make a comment…
IF YOU HAVE A COMPLAINT… SPEAK TO THE COMPLAINT DEPARTMENT!
People can ask as many questions as they’d like… in fact, the more people ask the clearer the answers become. If you’ve ever taken a class in school, first thing the teacher always says is “Ask as many questions as you’d like. There is NO such thing as a stupid question”…
Enjoy the (whatever) deal!

I wasn’t trying to complain, but ask a question. Sorry if I offended you, Jacob.
Does the Fandango $4 Tickets still work at this link?
Stephanie, i wasnt referring to you when i said that… I dont plan on viewing this discussion again, but if you would kindly take back your apology it would be greatly appreciated.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5Ud4yKpI4k&feature=search

Take back my apology? Why would I do that? If I think I have offended someone, I will apologize. If you don’t think it’s necessary, that’s fine. But I’m not going to take it back. But since you’re not reading this thread anymore, I guess I’m wasting my time. Have a good day.
Still haven’t seen an answer as to whether my ticket is transferable or not. I was not very smart and purchased it before I found out that our theaters are not Fandango partners.
I purchased this fandango deal and in my coupon it says i got a bagel deal… what’s the deal and please fix this!!!
Guys – if you log in to you Groupon account, I believe you can edit your order using the “Edit Purchase” link, including canceling your order (as long as it’s before 11:59pm tonight).
Also, looks like you can change your Groupon to be a gift using the “My Groupons” link as well.
Is this valid in Honolulu?
If you want to cancel it just go to my groupons > Edit Order > Cancel. Did you try that? It shouldnt be that complicated at all.. sad. If its beyond that then try contacting groupon. Simple as that :l
I just purchased the fandango groupn and was wondering if I am able to use it in Vegas? This is my first time using this site.
Husband doesn’t have a fandango account. Can he gift the groupon to me so I can redeem his ticket in ADDITION to my own ticket?

Hey gang, Sean from Groupon. Wanted to confirm that you’ll get your $10 in Groupon Bucks when someone you invite gets their first Groupon. It doesn’t matter what page they land on – the Bagel deal or this one. There’s no limit on how much you can earn!
Seriously, Melissa C? They are not making you go alone, just saying 1 ticket per person. Get whoever you want to go with to buy their own! It’s amazing how people will find something to complain about with a $4 deal.
Thank you for the deals, groupon!
And I have to disagree with the theory of “the more people ask, the clearer it becomes” – that’s disproved daily on this site. lol
@Kim – you should be able to transfer it with no problem especially since it’s redeemed online with the code. They’re tracking codes, not names. Just about every other groupon is transferable.
If you buy one, then make another user name with a different email address. I made one for me and bought one and then I used my fiance’s email and bought her one.
Common sense prevails! Thanks Tamara!
Sorry Tamera, not Tamara!
“If you buy one, then make another user name with a different email address. I made one for me and bought one and then I used my fiance’s email and bought her one.”
Uhhh, can’t they tell you’re using the same credit card?
Thanks for the great deal!
@Sean…I know you just answered this, but I still a little fuzzy on how it works. You said we can get the $10 in Groupon bucks when somebody purchases any Groupon for the first time. I do know that, but how do you know they were referred by us when we can’t send them a referral link for this deal? I know we can send them this deal, but it doesn’t have our “special” link code…
Thanks so much!
Nevermind about my comment! It wasn’t working earlier, but it looks like it now works! Thanks.
I would like to give 2 tickets to a husband & wife as a gifts How do I do that?
Universal Fine Print and Deal FAQ:
The fine print says “Limit 1 per person” and “May buy multiples as gifts.”
How do I buy multiples as this says I can?
Universal Fine Print and Deal FAQ:

Jean T. – The Deal FAQ are general examples of questions that could apply to all deals. Under your example, it says “if the deal says this”. This deal says Limit 1 per person. It does not say multiples as gifts. You cannot buy gifts on this one. Hope this helps.
Is there a way to avoid
I bought a $4 ticket last night. When will I get it and can it be used for new releases?
Is this coupon still available? I don’t see it anymore?
I am trying to find this deal. It said 4 days left and that was yesterday. Help!!!!
Here is the link to the deal. Good luck!
$4 Movie Ticket on Fandango.com (Up to $12 Value) http://www.groupon.com/orange-county/deals/fandango-email?utm_campaign=UserReferral&utm_medium=email&utm_source=uu2469677
try logging in to groupon, then go back to your original email and click on the buy now button. It will open a new window, but you will still be logged in. You should be back at the $4 movie ticket page.
I have the same problem Deb U had – I get an error saying that I must purchase exactly 1 and the quantity is auto filled out for me. It fails continually. LAME!
Wow Stacia, what a way to subtly add your own referral ID to that site.
Ugh, a referral link – groupon, please remove!
Anyway, has anyone gotten their referral credits?
Wow! If only I could get the level of support on my issue that a spammer got on their issue, then Groupon would be awesome!

Hey, it’s Sean from Groupon. Josef and Deb U – try logging-out and then logging back in. That seems to have worked for others.
If you’re looking to get back to the deal, click here: http://www.groupon.com/deals/fandango-email/?utm_source=aaboard. If you forward that link to friends, and they’re a first-time Groupon buyer, you will earn your referral credit.
I bought the certificate yesterday evening about 10PM eastern, I received the Fandango certificate almost immediately stating redeem after 12AM on the 26th – tried to redeem with no luck.
I purchased yesterday, but have received nothing….this sucks. Did I just throw my money away??
@Sean from Groupon: No dice! I’ve logged out and back in several times and I keep getting the same error. I can send you morre diagnostic information if you’d like.!
Typically Groupo coupons are not available to redeem until after the promotion has run. Looks the deal is good till Sunday so it wouldn’t be available before than.
@Sean S.; how would Groupon know that link is a referral from me? I thought referral links would have my ID in them
Do referral credits apply when the deal closes or the next day?
Sorry for the misinformation. You’re right, my mistake, the link I provided will only bring you back to the deal page. It will not earn the referral credit. To get the referral credit, click any of the ‘share this deal’ buttons at the beginning of this discussion board (right below the blue ‘sign-in’ bar and right above the ‘Return to The Deal’ link). Sorry, gang!
@Sean S.; thanks for the update. I sent two friends an email link yesterday and they both bought tickets using my link, but I haven’t received any referral bonuses. Usually I got it within 24 hours. Would you be able to investigate what happened?
how and when can i redeem?
What is the deal with the $1 surcharge Fandango is charging? Price is actually $5 total no?
Thanks!
Mike – “Buyers must pay any balance due by credit or debit card if the ticket price (including online-convenience fee) exceeds the maximum $12 value.”
So no, you pay 4 dollars, and it covers you up to 12 dollars of fandango charges. Unless your theater charges over 11 dollars a ticket, it’s just 4 dollars.
Oh I gotcha. Well, that’s a fantastic deal then. I was just reading people getting $1 charges on their credit card when doing the deal which is why I raised the topic. In other words, they are getting what I think are $4 charges, $1 other charge on one transaction which I’m thinking may actually be similar to when say, a company put a small fee like .01 on the card to confirm it is a working card, then charges the $4, drops the $1 and final is $4 total taken from the account or charged to the card.
It’s not a hold – Fandango charges a $1 per ticket fee. Nothing to do w/ Groupon. It’s not a hold, it’s an actual fee.
So then I guess it’s $5.00 for the Groupon?
It is just $4, not $5. My account shows a $0 charge to confirm my card and then a $4 charge for the purchase. That makes me think that Mike is correct and the small fee some are seeing is just a hold to confirm the card.
Can u print it more than Once?
Could it be used in any other county besides Orange county?

This is Sean from Groupon. Evan S got it right. If you try to buy a movie ticket for $10 and Fandango tacks on the $1 fee, the code that we provide with this Groupon will still cover the full price ($11). That’s because your Groupon is valued up to $12.
Barbara – there’s a limit of one per person and you can use this at any theater that uses Fandango in the US.
How come I only got my referral credit for one person when I referred two people and both of them bought? It’s been over 24 hours.
Every time I try to use the Fandango voucher, I get this response – “The promotion cannot be found. Please check the code and try again.” Yes the number is correct I type in. When should the voucher be activated????

I dont think you can use it until this deal ends.
Sean is Emma S. comment correct? I want to refer this to a few friends but I want them to know “the rules”
Sean – When will referral credits post to our accounts for this deal? Thanks!
I have referred 2 ppl who have purchased their tickets yesterday, ut haven’t received credit. When will it apply? I used the link on share this deal.
Ha! The ticket “cost” was $13, but with Fandango’s $1.50 service charge, I had to pay an additional $0.50 on top of the $4 Groupon.
Oh, Fandango, why must every transaction I have with you leave an unpleasant taste in my mouth?
As of now, 3 people have bought it using my referral link, 2 already on wednesday and one today. I don’t see any credit in my account. When should I expect it to be posted?
Thanks
@ Charles – As with most Groupons, you cannot use it until the day after purchase.
Couldn’t get my coupon to print?? WTHeck ?

I am brand new to this. I am trying to figure out how to go with the fandango tickets??? Help
Go to the My Stuff Link on top left corner, clik. It will show the Fandango ticket, print it. It will show a new page in black and white print with a ticket and a 14 digit XXXX-XXXXXX-XXXX number. This number on the bottom right of the ticket is what u need. Copy that junk-you;ll need it. Now, go to the www.fandango.com. Enter your zipcode in the box that says “Find Theatres + Movie Times” toward the top to find a theatre near you. This only works for theatres that recognize Fandango tickets. You will know if you can buy a ticket online for your theatre if there is an orange box between the movie name and showtimes that says TICKETS. Usually Regal cinemas is your best bet, but there may be others. Click the time you wanna see the movie. Under ticket quantity, pick one adult and check the box for Fandango Bucks, gift card, or promotional order. Then click guest checkout. Enter an email for them to send a confirmation to. Then it will ask you to enter a Fandango bucks, gift or promotional code number. This is where you paste the 14 digit number XXXX-XXXXXX-XXXX number from your Groupn/Fandango deal. Paste it, then click apply. Now, you should be charged with the bill showing the discount for the ticket in red. Click OK, and you have your ticket. Now, you need to print it and bring it to the movie theatre. Enjoy. :)
I printed the email and didn’t realize I had to go to another site to pick a movie. I was told this at the movie theater. Can I still go back and get a movie for another day???
Should I worry about the fact that mine is saying “Your order is currently being processed.” for more than the last hour?
such a scam! there should be FINE print saying that you can not use the coupon the day of purchase!
groupns is a SCAM SCAM SCAM!
You should be able to get a movie for another day, as long as you haven’t gone to Fandango and redeemed the ticket yet.
Thank you Timothy.
:)
michael c. – If you click on “See the rules that apply to all deals” under the fine print it very clearly states that you cannot use a groupon on the date of purchase. Groupon is not a scam.

I want to post this deal onto my facebook pageso that I can get referral credit when someone buys it, but when I go through the “Refer Friends” link at the top of the page and then click “Share it on facebook”, what is displayed on my profile is TODAY’S boat rental deal and not the movie ticket one… Please help me out!!

@ Nate – Thank you so much! It worked!
can we use this tickets in Phildelphia
Mandy M. – If you go to Fandango.com you can check to see which theaters in your area participate.
Am I the only one absolutely amazed at how many people A. Don’t read fine print/instructions B. Don’t read the actual Groupon and/or related sides (Full instructions on Fandango) and C. Don’t read the replies on this page.
I realize some things (like the referral issue) can be confusing but 95% of these questions are clearly answered on one/both sites or in the replies. People – take a minute to read before asking/freaking out.
This link just brought me back to the Fandango deal after I signed up using a friends referal
Thanks Groupon, its a great deal… found this on www.urbanspoils.com
Hi there, I bought this Fandango deal a couple days ago. But My Groupon does not have an assigned number. It just reads, ******-1. Why is that? Shouldn’t there be a number like all the other groupons I have in my account???? Thanks.
Has anyone received their referral credit for this Groupon yet? I’m still waiting for mine.

Have not gotten my referral credit :(
Me either…think most of us used a regular “refer” link and not that icon on deal page. Hopefully G. will honor these too.
Groupon, please remove the referral link above! Love how people pretend to “help”
purchased a ticket for present TODAY now I can’t use it TODAY.
Why not???

I have now referred two people whom I KNOW have made a purchase on groupon and I have note received a credit. What can I do to fix this? Thanks for any help Groupon!
I purchased my one ticket forwarded email to my daughter for her to buy one, she cannot open it to purchase a ticket. I understand the “one only reequirement” but why can I not forward to let someone else buy. Doesn’t sound fair since kids don’t like going to movies ALONE…. any suggestions? or help?
Linda M. – She will be able to buy one. If you are trying to refer her for the $10, you will need to click on the button at the top right of your screen to “Refer Friends, Get $10”. If she links through that and signs up with her email address, you will get the referral bonus once she buys a deal (no matter when that is). She can then click on the following link to go to the Fandango deal to purchase.
http://www.groupon.com/deals/fandango-email/?utm_source=aaboard
Hope this helps!
I purchased the Fandango deal on 8/25/10 and I have yet to receive a code via email to redeem my ticket……please help.
Brenda S. – You can log in to your Groupon account, click on My Stuff in the upper right hand corner, click on My Groupons. Your Groupon should be there to click on to print.

Hey gang, Sean from Groupon. We’re going to end this deal a bit early. Thanks for your help making this such a successful deal. Enjoy the movies!
Awesome deal, were going tonight… but we’ll use it soon enough!
I click buy entered my credit card info and it was no longer available… one minute too late! :(
Deal is dead in spite it says 17K+ Remaining tickets?
why was this deal ended early by groupon?
I’m with Mike, Im., etc.: Why was the ticket deal ended early when apparently 17,000 were still available? And, if you’re going to end a deal early, send an e-mail to everyone to warn us, so we can get back to the deal before it ends! If I’d known you were going to stop it early, I would have bought it YESTERDAY, but I was assured by your site that it was good for a day or two longer. Not fair changing the rules in mid-play!
www.urbanspoils.com still shows this deal. Its a bummer this one ended early, but look forward to seeing what you offer tomorrow.
Why does this deal say 18 hours left to purchase and there are over 17,000 left but we are unable to buy it? Annoying…I was all set to buy it before I noticed the Buy button was gone.
I am so frusterated with this deal! Groupon needs to do something about this problem
I would like to take advantage of this deal. I need 2 tickets please.
Sux that it ended early, yet still shows 17 hours plus almost 18,000 left to buy! WHAT GIVES, GROUPON??
Great Deal! Sorry it ended early! Still wondering when referral credits will appear?? Anyone get theirs yet?
Got my referral credit this morning. Used the regular “refer” link for the person to sign up, then the link on the deal page for them to buy.
Is there any way to see which person the credit applies to? Or does it just show your dollar amount and nothing else?
I got 19 of my referrals today (purchased on Friday). There is no way to see who purchased (a privacy issue). You just see the amount of credit that you have received.
Bummer, waiting for my referral credit to come through to purchase the ticket. I agree, shouldn’t change the rules mid game when there’s still tickets left :(

What happened with this deal? It says there is over 12 hours left to purchase tickets but it says this deal is no longer available. It also says there are tickets to purchase. That is crap. Groupon please fix this problem as it it annoying and contradicting. I want to purchase some tickets but it wont let me. How come??? Theres tickets and time still remaining. DO NOT just say your going to end this deal early. You have to give people a reason first. That will turn alot of customers off. Who ever is in charge of marketing you should take note. At least give a legitimate reason instead of pissing people off. You will lose customers that way. It only makes sense!!!
Hi,
It says 11 hours left and 17000 + tickets avail but the deal is no lo9nger avail! I would like to purchase a ticket. Pls let me know when this problem will be fixed.
Is anyone going to be able to open up the link today, or explain why it says time is remaining, but the BUY NOW option is no longer availalbe. Also, I havent received my referral credits…. :o(
can’t buy my ticket. LAME.

Why is this not working?! 17,000+ tickets and 8 hours left, but I am too late!

This was not a sucessful deal. Guess I should jump on deals earlier because Groupon can cancel them early. Countdown clock and amount remaining left are pointless if they don’t matter. Some people pay attention to that stuff. Why was this deal cancelled anyway?
How do I get this $4 movie deal with Fandango?
Yes, this is bullshit… it says there is nearly 4 hours to buy and over 17,000 to sell, but… no longer available.
I told a friend about Groupon and he came over to sign up for Groupon and buy this deal. He is here now. The deal says over 17,000 remaining and several hours remaining, but no more purchases are allowed for some unexplained reason. If you are going to help out people affected by this issue, please include us. Thanks.
Victoria,
Same situation with me!!! More hours, more tickets, no sale!!
Steve
Thr timer is still counting downing says i still a have two hours to purchase but now it says That I am to late to purchase the movie deal. Please help i want to get my one ticket.
What! I couldn’t buy it yesterday so I made sure to come back before it expired. It says there are still tix available & time remaining. So, what’s going on?? That stinks!
I’m not sure why this is, but they commented yesterday that they were going to be ending the sale early, which is probably why nobody is able to buy tickets currently.
Is there a glitch? I’m unable to buy even though there’s still time left to buy and 17,734 remaining.
Groupon,
When should I see the referral credit reflected in my account?
Thank you.
I, too, got shafted by whatever the problem was with this deal.
With plenty of time on the clock (a couple of hours at least) and over 17 thousand items remaining, the deal was unavailable. I checked back multiple times and it was still not available. Customer service isn’t being helpful – they just say I missed it because the deal closed at midnight. I was there well before midnight (EDT) and it was already unavailable, as stated by plenty of other people in this discussion.
Sounds like false or at least screwy advertising to me. Bait and switch maybe? The page promised availability until midnight or until they ran out of items, but instead they yanked it many hours earlier. Not cool, Groupon. You’re losing points with me, a frequent purchaser.
Josh – Can you confirm if all of the referral credits have been applied to accounts on this deal? Thanks!

Sounds like those of us who couldn’t make the purchase on Sat got screwed. (including all our contacts that would have signed up for the first time) I sent and email to customer service and all they told me was that Fandango pulled the deal and I and the rest of us missed it, even though there were plenty of tickets left to sale. WAY THUMBS DOWN!
Hi, Can I use this coupon at Lincoln Square Cinemas in Bellevue, WA? Thanks
how do I use this groupon online… is it only good for orange county (I live in Vegas)
I followed these instructions:
Visit http://www.fandango.com to select movie,
check promotional code box, sign in, and enter
code into “Claim Code” box.
I followed the instructions and received an error code:
The promotion cannot be found. Please check the code and try again
Helllooo… eecchhoo…. any answer to getting the deal to those who could not get it when there was still time?
I used this groupon to buy tickets for two at “CineBistro” a dine in theater in my area, and I received $14 off!
Thanks groupon!
I’m having trouble redeeming this coupon. When I use the coupon code, Fandango says this promotion has been canceled. Wtf? I paid $4 and can’t get my ticket?
Hey Garrett G., I got the same error. Not a happy camper!! Groupon, any answers on this one?
I am also trying to redeem my groupon for a ticket, and it says it has been cancelled. What is going on here? Who’s giving me a refund?!?
Just tried to use my groupon for this and also got the “Cancellation” message. I guess I’m calling groupon tomorrow for a refund. To bad too… I was going to use it tonight.
I also just tried to use the Fandango $ 4 Groupon and was told that the promo code has been cancelled.
Anyone had any luck using this Groupon in the past 24 hours?

Hey gang – Sean from Groupon. We’re looking into the issues people have been having with their codes in the past 24-hours. Stay tuned. Thanks!
I tried again a few minutes later and was able to successfully use the Fandango Groupon.

Quick update – Fandango is having a server issue and that’s causing the problem. They’re fixing it now and everything should be fine later today. Don’t worry, the codes you bought from Groupon have not expired. I’ll let everyone know when everything is fixed. Sorry for the inconvenience!
its working just got my ticket!!
I kept getting an error message when trying to use. It final said that it worked, but I was charged the full ticket price ($13.00 + online fee) on my credit card. How do I fix so I can use????
i just tried to use my code and no luck!!! whats going on here? and do i just use the groupon# with the dashes or without? help!!!
I am having the same problem. Fandango website says it does not recognize the code. I have tried with and without the dashes. ??
Ok it worked. I was entering the wrong code – You have to print the offer and the code is on the offer. I was entering the code on the mystuff list.
Hi, I paid for this Groupon back on August 30, 2010, but I never got a chance to use my code & now I can’t find it.
How do I redeem this offer?
I also can’t find the code to use. It’s not expired yet, but I never got an email, although it’s in “my groupons.”
Anyone know how to redeem this?
To redeem, click the print this groupon. The redemption code will be on the PFD.
So far online tickets are not available in any theater in our area? Why did we buy this deal?
how can do you buy the tickets?
My theater does not offer online tickets. Is there any other way to redeem this groupon or am I just out of luck? I always read the fine print before purchasing and didn’t see anything about the fact that we should check with our local theaters first.
Same situation with stephanie, Daniel G., and Julie B.. This is not a great deal when you can not go to the theater you like; my AMC Tyson16 does not offer online tickets. Disappointed.

What a let down groupon..
Finally go to use my “1 Free Ticket”, plan to go out with the wife, find that I can’t just go to the counter and use the ticket, no problem going online, until I now also have to pay $2.50 additional as a “Conveinence” fee!$? Bullshit. I don’t want that convienience, Fandango had to ruin what would have been a decent deal.
So for 2 tickets, my total was $15 today on credit card (Plus $4 originally to purchase this great deal = $19 total) or $9.50 per ticket! which isn’t any slick deal for the amount of signing up I had to do on Groupon, then sign up on Fandango.. A free ticket should be A FREE TICKET. Work out the conveinience fees into your plan next time!
It’s easier to just use an old student ID to get a better price, buy the ticket when you get there and avoid all this hassle.
This was misleading as it doesn’t state up front the $1.25 convenience charge per ticket. Also, it only took $8.25 off my total price, instead of the $12. Did I misread something?? Overall, a very disappointing Groupon and not all info is stated up front. NOT GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

How the F do you redeem this ticket?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don’t see a promotion code anywhere on this and when I go to “print” my ticket… it downloads a file that will not open. I absolutely grown to hate Groupon from this and other purchases.
My Groupon opened and printed just fine – I see some comments where they had to pay a $1.25 convenience fee online – my purchase added in the $1.25 to the cost of the ticket and my Groupon covered the cost of the convenience fee as well. Max value for this Groupon was $12.00 – so maybe, w/ a $12.00 movie ticket price, you therefore have to pay the difference, which amounts to the $1.25??
Just wondering – thankfully, my Groupon experience is wonderful for this deal (as always, more or less!) – for those who are experiencing unresolved issues, I suggest contacting Groupon customer service. On those rare occasions when I’ve had issues w/ a business or a particular deal, Groupon has been more than happy to issue a credit. (Groupon credit, that is – if you want a full refund, I’m not positive but I trust they’d be willing to do that as well!)
This Groupon should be expiring today 3/1/11. I tried using it today on 3/1/11 and fandango website said that it already expired. I AM DISAPPOINTED, BECAUSE IF THE EXPIRATION DATE STATES "expiring ON 3/1/11 THEN IT SHOULD BE EXPIRING ON THAT DAY!!!! NOT THE DAY BEFORE!!!
FANDANGO PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS!!!
Thank you.For those of you who had trouble redeeming, I let the groupon expire, then tried to redeem it for the purchase price ($4) which you should be able to do according to Groupon’s policy. It didn’t work, and I e-mailed Groupon customer support and within 2 minutes, they refunded me. I can’t express enough how thankful I am to Groupon for their quick and fair customer service. My recommendation to others is just don’t give Fandango your business. They had another promo on another “deal-of-the-day” site today and I just decided not to buy. After all the convenience fees, and limited theater choices, you might as well just buy vouchers from Costco and save yourself the “convenience”.

Can we use the Groupon for new releases?
