Climbers scale mountains for the feeling of accomplishment and the heap of free flags waiting at the summit. Reach new personal heights with this Groupon.
$45 for a half-day rock-climbing clinic for one person (an $85 value)
After instructors outfit up to 12 students with provided helmets, harnesses, and climbing shoes, they teach everyone how to safely belay and tie a rope. The group then puts their new knowledge to practical use, completing multiple climbs and belays as their guides continue to give advice on how to best scale the rocks.
Clinics are three-and-a-half hours long. All of the remaining dates on the website are currently filled, but Groupon Buyers can call First Ascent to schedule a new date.
First Ascent Climbing Services
Sure, First Ascent teaches climbers of all skill levels how to scale cliffs and hoist themselves over boulders. But the "ascent" part of their name also refers to less tangible obstacles: conquering insecurities, developing confidence, and building upon self-esteem. Students work toward all of these goals—both the physical and the mental—during climbing clinics at Smith Rock State Park, a sprawl of high-desert terrain filled with sheer cliffs made of volcanic minerals such as tuff and basalt. Every course is helmed by an instructor who is certified by the AMGA and speaks fluent mountain goat.
