Highlights

  • Lose weight and have fun
  • Choose from three camps
  • Work out with friends and family
  • Experienced instructors

A strong man wrestles you to the ground to show off; a stronger man boosts your self-esteem then accidentally breaks three of your ribs with a supportive hug. Test the tenets of both strength and community for $49 with today's Groupon: you get one month of family-centered fitness boot camp (a $149 value) from Fitness 4 Mind and Body. Choose month-long participation in one of the following: total-body fitness camp, sports camp, or parent-youth camp.

Depending on the camp, sessions take place in a variety of scenic locations around Austin and Round Rock. Every class is in a small-group setting where friends, family, and neighbors sweat and move muscles until they're fitter and more trim than an edmontosaurus on a diet of sunshine. Fitness 4 Mind's experienced, attentive instructors guide each activity and make the workouts fun and challenging. Here are descriptions of the three camps.

  • Total-Body Fitness Camp is a one-hour mixed-technique class that takes place outdoors three times a week. Participants shred flab with a variety of total-body exercises, and one class every week is devoted solely to cardio.

  • Sports Camp causes workout burn with lightly competitive sports and training exercises (including football, basketball, and badminton) along with attendant conditioning and racquet twirling. Every class is taught by a former college or professional athlete and uses real techniques and drills. Each week you'll switch up sports to keep burning calories and crushing boredom like so many karate-ready cinderblocks. Working out as a team keeps you motivated and encourages you to work harder.

  • Parent-Youth Camp is general athletic conditioning. Parents and their kids healthily bond over working out, discussing good sportsmanship, and going over proper nutrition with a registered dietician. Plus, a variety of former athletes make guest appearances. The times for this class have been recently updated; it is only available from noon to 6 p.m. on certain Sundays in June, July, and August.

Groupon Says

Exercise Revolutions

Fitness 4 Mind and Body offers you a personal fitness revolution, but it won't be the first fitness revolution in history. Here are some important moments in the history of exercise.

3,000 BC: Exercise is invented by cavemen who had previously run away from bears, fires, and bears on fire, but never before from fiery bears cursed with human faces.

30: A revolution seems to be happening in Galilee, led by a charismatic, long-haired, sandaled fellow who doesn't always do what people tell him to. His name is Keith and he invented swimming. It's great exercise.

1975: The NordicTrack is invented. Every 100th unit causes its owner to painfully age backward during use.

2015: Exercise in a pill makes working out obsolete.

2016: Exercise in a pill revealed to be cause of population-destroying super-plague.
