The Fine Print

Working out with professional gym equipment is preferable to improvised workouts, such as coffee-table parkour and trying to lift one of everything at Costco. Bulk up with this Groupon.

Choose Between Two Options

  • $29 for a 30-day membership (a $65 value)
  • $59 for a 30-day membership with three personal-training sessions (a $170 value)

A membership gives guests access to each of the 17 locations’ modern gym equipment, as well as unlimited group classes, including boot camp, yoga, Pilates, and BodyPump. Certified personal trainers build custom workouts to help clients hit their specific fitness targets with the goal of teaching them carry out regimens on their own. Fitness First Health Clubs

CEO Peter Harvey believes that a quality gym staff must demonstrate more than technical expertise. "Service doesn't only mean showing someone how to do an arm curl," he says. At each of Fitness First Health Clubs’ 17 locations, his certified personal trainers develop workouts that zero in on each person’s specific goals, giving clients the skills to pole-vault over impassable plateaus. By steadfastly refusing to hand out fish in favor of putting on master classes in fishing, they help clients become self-sufficient, educating them on fundamentals.

During these one-on-one sessions, and in solo workouts, guests set calories ablaze atop rows of continually updated equipment. Treadmills, recumbent bikes, and strength-training tools line the walls, augmented by state-of-the-art gear such as the Frederick club's Sproing—a soft-platform-based machine that minimizes stress on the joints while an exerciser runs.

Members can also drop in for as many group classes as they can muster. Inside a separate studio, stationary cycles whir in time with galvanizing music, kickboxing strikes arc through the air, and barbells rise with each BodyPump rep. For more meditative practices, Pilates sessions and several types of yoga enhance flexibility and focus.

The Groupon Guide to: Diner Speak

The main attraction to eating at a “greasy spoon” diner is to hear the delightful lingo the servers use to relay your order to the cooks. Many people will often order second and third meals just to hear the servers yell and then discreetly throw away the food. Here is a guide to their secret language:

Order: Double cheeseburger, medium rare, with pickles
Diner Speak: Double hockey puck made of meat with a pink soul and zombie nickels

Order: Turkey sandwich on rye, no mayo
Diner Speak: Professor Gobblington with a PhD in the economics of foreign grain markets, send the white stranger packing

Order: Two eggs, scrambled, with bacon and coffee, cream and sugar
Diner Speak: Twin albino footballs meet with a tragic accident, send the mother a crispy flag and fill the dark night with the first tragically beautiful snowfall of winter

Order: Pancakes
Diner Speak: Lil’ Sweetie Flat Breads starring Shirley Temple (1934)

Order: Pot roast
Diner Speak: Roast, pot-style

Zombie nickels: cause they’re soft, green, and dead feelin’
