$100 for an Introductory Flight Lesson ($200 Value)

Lasting approximately an hour, each introductory flight lesson places students inside the cockpit of a Cessna 172 or Piper aircraft so they can take the controls themselves under the supervision of a certified instructor. Each student receives a brief overview of flight techniques and safety procedures on the ground before slipping the surly bonds of the Raleigh-Durham Airport and performing simple airborne maneuvers, including a gradual turn and communicating with air-traffic control. The time spent aloft may be credited toward pilot’s license requirements, and a second passenger may tag along in the plane for an additional $10.

Beyond whisking passengers in comfort and style on charter flights, the team of FAA-certified flight instructors at FlightGest, Inc. trains aspiring aviators to soar among the clouds themselves. Operating out of Raleigh-Durham Airport, the teachers conduct proficiency training and lessons in everything from introductory flights to private pilot's licenses aboard a fleet of fully-equipped aircraft such as Cessna 172 and Piper aircraft. Both new and experienced pilots can also practice executing maneuvers and handling difficult situations inside the FAA-approved single- and multi-engine flight simulators that are equipped with a full instrument panel.
