The philosophy of Flirt and Flutter Photography’s female photographers hinges on one basic tenet: what separates fashion models from other women is not impeccable bone structure, but the hard work of their stylists and photographers. Before boudoir and glamour shoots—their specialty—makeup artists can accent faces, and subjects select accessories from a trove of boas, fedoras, and jewellery. The photographers then point their lenses at their catwalk-ready subjects before simple backdrops in the warm, flattering light of their studio, housed in a west Ottawa penthouse. The alluring photos often feature high-contrast colour, sharp colour accents, or classic black-and-white shading.

When they’re not coaching subjects into pin-up poses, the shutterbugs capture clients at a location of their choice for their more family-oriented shoot styles. Often focused on landmark events, these shoots can document engagements, weddings, or high-school graduations that mark the transition from living at home to living under a cafeteria table.
