Choose Between Two Options

  • $35 for one 60-minute saltwater float session (a $75 value)
  • $69 for two 60-minute saltwater float sessions (a $150 value)

During the session, clients relax inside a sound- and light-proof fiberglass capsule filled with warm saltwater heated to match the temperature of skin. The high concentration of Epsom salts—approximately 800 pounds—negates the effects of gravity inside the 8'x4'x4' chamber, allowing the body to effortlessly float and clients to purge all thoughts from their mind. Known as the Restricted Environmental Stimulation Technique, or REST, float sessions have been shown to temporarily reduce the brain’s workload and cultivate positive reactions from the mind and body; thus, the body conserves energy and begins to naturally heal itself, all while reducing stress.

Sessions take place inside private, locked rooms. Clients can use the private shower before and after their session, and may float in either a bathing suit or in the nude. Float Spa San Diego is open Tuesday–Sunday.

Float Spa San Diego

Both soundproof and lightproof, the fiberglass capsules at Float Spa San Diego simulate a world without gravity, and more importantly, a world without distractions. Eight hundred pounds of Epsom salts intermixed with warm water—heated between 94 and 95 degrees—fill the tanks. As a result, clients lose all sense of external stimuli, ultimately leading to unmatched relaxation and a greater empathy toward rubber duckies. The water, harmonized with the skin's temperature, erases the sensation of touch, and the salt allows the body, including the head, to literally float without effort. Researchers have given this phenomenon the moniker REST, meaning Restricted Environmental Stimulation Technique, as it has been shown to effectively reduce the brain's workload and enhance the mind and body's ability to relax and self-heal. A tank the size of a full room is also available for clients who feel they need more room to relax.

At Float Spa San Diego, the capsules are located inside private rooms equipped with showers for use before and after the session. Appointments kick off with 10 minutes of soothing music before all sounds and stimuli are shut off for 50 minutes of supreme silence and relaxation. With their modesty guarded by the locked rooms, clients are free to enjoy their flotation clad in a bathing suit, scuba-diving gear, or, for even less restriction, without any clothing at all.
