FranklinCovey

FranklinCovey—a company that focuses on improving performance through changes in human behavior—is the product of a 1997 convergence of two different lines of thought regarding time management—Stephen Covey's The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and Hyrum Smith's Franklin Planner. FranklinCovey has been expanding its multidisciplinary approach ever since then to generate new modes of thinking about the meaning and nature of effectiveness. Nowadays, this approach includes their On Demand interactive online courses, live workshops, and the same books that brought them recognition in the first place. The philosophies guiding these products has also expanded from the core imperatives of Stephen's 7 Habits to include trust-building concepts from The Speed of Trust by Stephen's son, Stephen M. R. Covey.

The Groupon Guide to: Choosing a Jersey Number

Professional athletes are faced with many difficult decisions, such as choosing to which charity to donate their entire salary or settling on a jersey number. If you get picked to play big ball with the big boys and big girls, use these helpful tips for selecting your definitive digits:

  • Choose a number that has meaning to you, such as the number of teeth inside your mouth.

  • Go with a number that gives you an interesting story to tell the sports reporters whenever they ask you "Hey champ, could you tell us why you picked that uniform number again?" This number could be the amount of people you'd kiss if you had no respect for personal boundaries.

  • Pick a random number, such as 9 or maybe even 10. It's up to you as long as it's either 9 or 10!

  • No one has ever gotten away with a three-digit number … yet.

  • Do you have a lucky number? If you don't, you should choose one now because you'll need one—most professional athletes have incredibly short careers and aren't qualified to do anything else.

Did Shaquille O'Neal choose number 32 because that was the number of teeth he had at the time? Find out in today's Groupon Guide.
